    Default Immitation Retro Games

With Retro Games for the most part still en vouge, what are some titles that you feel capture the soul of retro gaming perfectly? Which ones do you feel miss the point entirely?

Anything with nostalgia I guess. That's really the driving force behind why I collect tbh.

Hate to crash the thread, but despite typical usage of the word "retro", the definition of it is still...

    http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/retro

There is no such thing as a "imitation" retro game, that's improper usage. A retro game is something like Mega Man 9, or Fix-it Felix Jr. They imitate old games. Mega Man 2 and Donkey Kong are NOT retro, they are old or vintage. Or I guess classic, that could apply too.

I've really enjoyed Retro City Rampage.

Yeah, that's something that I unfortunately have to realize. If people use a word incorrectly enough, that incorrect definition becomes legitimate.

Except common dictionaries haven't been updated to reflect the new definition of retro. Until it has, the usage is still incorrect. And even if it did change, I wouldn't personally call an old game retro.

Robot Unicorn Attack definitely captures the classic "just one more time" gameplay of yesteryear. Such a fun guilty pleasure.

    X2.

Though it's not the only reason, it's definitely a huge part of it for me.

That's all that really matters at the end of the day.
