Also, You got that cable from RetroGaming cable in UK right?
They use composite instead of CSYNC in their cable. IT results in jailbar on my PVM. The cable had to be modified to use CSYNC on the console plug side.
Which happens to be a pain to take appart...
Correct, this is (or was ) a RetroGaming cable. Concerning the sync on their cables (edit) - you are correct - it was wired for composite for the sync. Just today I changed it for CSYNC - that plug on the cosnole side is a nightmare to solder to but thankfully managed to do this without dicking anything up. Initially I thought it was wired straight up for csync - testing for continuity before I put the resitor / cap combo suggested this in but it appears I must have been touching the wrong pin on the round plug (doh!)
As for the cap / resistor combo, I read up that this is a technical requirement set out in the data sheet for the RGB encoder chip used.
All this to say that I will be doing my own cables from now on since it appears that if you want the job done properly you got to do it yourself.
