Correct. Unfortunately, most peoples recorded tape quality came from some kid holding a talkboy recorder up to a jambox in the middle of a tornado, so of course a CD/MP3 will sound better than that... I used to record MP3s to CDs to Cassettes back in the day when thats all my 80s cars came factory with. Just put a good set of speakers in and you're set!

Also... ::SIDE QUESTION:: How many people owned a 2XL robot and played regular cassettes through him? Thought it was always awesome that he'd 'sing' the lyrics. He didnt really SING them, just his mouth lit up to the words like he was...

Hall & Oates is my all-time favorite band, but I don't need to listen to them on a really good 1985 Cassette player when for pretty much the same quality I can listen to them in MP3. It's cool, but not a gamebreaker.

Can't believe I was able to rescue this one. It was a lost case as far as I was concerned

I still listen to cassette tapes, my car a 1989 camaro still has the original stock cassette tape stereo in it and when I find cheap cassette tapes of music I like I buy them to be able to listen to them in my car.

Another one from me (heh, i stole this thread now).

AIWA AD-F 990, Highest end model from AIWA in the 80s, built in 1984, the 660 was a later cheaper design. Notable features are automatic head demagnetisation on boot-up and automatic electrical adjustment to tape type ("Compu-Brain"). Frequency response 21KHz.

The power supply had let out the magic smoke in this one and killed the circuit that drives the reel motor when it went. I have thus constructed a replacement circuit. Thanks to Jorge for the help in designing it (link)

Song is Scotch - Pictures btw

I've been looking for a good condition, 350 IROC-Z for some time now. When I find one, I'm gonna snatch it up. For some reason the market is flooded with T-tops and I want a coupe.

Yeah, T-tops are nice and all, but I dont care for them - too noisy and when you wanna go fast thats structure of the car that isnt there. I used to own an 83 Berlinetta Camaro with a 305 (rare for Berlinettas those years for whatever reason) and it was purty slick - but it too was a T-top car.... >_< Just keep searchin the auto traders and auto/rv magazines - theres bound to be a cheap one around. I may know of a couple locally if interested...

I buy the occasional audio cassette, primarily due to my car having a cassette player. I doubt I'd pick up any otherwise, unless I came across something interesting.
