    With CRT TV's and monitors its all a bit hit and miss, but it is true that even some of the no name / lower end brands can hold their own against the more professional RGB monitors.
    Many CRT TV's also offer decent service menus for adjusting screen position / convergence etc.

    For the Sony CRT's, with the TV in standby the combination is often:
    (on screen display) -> 5 -> (volume +) -> (TV)
    then MENU to get the service menu with all the adjustments.
