3D After Burner II Fires Up For Nintendo 3DS eShop In Japan

Sega recently released 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On in North America and Europe, as part of their first set of 3D Classics, but it looks like they won’t be cooling their jets anytime soon—3D After Burner II is headed to the Nintendo 3DS eShop in Japan.

After Burner II was originally released in 1987 as a jet cockpit sit-down cabinet arcade title, where you played as a F-14 Tomcat fighter jet, and gunned down enemies while dodging incoming enemy fire.

As a way to emulate the original arcade game and its cabinet that moved according to the motion of the jet, 3D After Burner II features a “Moving Cabinet Mode,” which shows a similar effect that moves according to your maneuvers.

Additionally, Sega will be implementing a “Special Mode,” that features a “lock-on shooting” system, which introduces a different way to test your skills in dogfights against enemies. 3D After Burner II will cost 800 yen on the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

3D After Burner II will be coming out on December 18, for Nintendo 3DS in Japan.
And yeah, unlike 3D Altered Beast, 3D After Burner II is based on the 1987 coin-op super-scaler arcade version that was powered by the
SEGA X BOARD hardware, same super-scaler tech that ran After Burner, AB Cop, Thunder Blade, GP Rider, Line of Fire, Racing Hero
    and Super Monaco GP.

Will they ever bring these ports to other consoles minus the 3D?

    Reviews in the pipeline:

Ys: The Vanished Omens with FM Sound Patch!

Please please, SEGA & M2, pleeeease do 3D Super Monaco GP next. Of course, based on the 1989 arcade version, not the MD/Genesis rendition, or its sequel.

I'd like them to do arcade-based 3D Super Monaco GP a lot more than I want 3D Power Drift.

Japanese and EU arcade Super Monaco GP flyers:

    Oh BTW:

That GENESIS DOES print ad from 1990 for After Burner II and Super Monaco GP, on those two TVs, used a shot of Genesis AB II but an arcade shot for Super Monaco GP:

I did pick up Space Harrier and it's such a good port. I agree completely that I'd love Thunder Blade. I'd also like Turbo Outrun.
It would be really really nice if SEGA stopped flogging the same old games over and over. As much as I love Outrun, After Burner and Space Harrier, I want OTHER games! Turbo Outrun is a perfect example, the only home port SEGA ever did was the rather shoddy MD version. The only home port that comes close to the arcade version is the FM Towns version. It's things like this that make me pissed that SEGA didn't do proper SEGA AGES released on the PS2 from the very beginning. If they had all been like Vol.20, the Space Harrier Collection, I would have been a very happy boy. The 3D "remakes" were an absolute insult to SEGA's arcade legacy and their fans. I really wish that Golden Axe, Outrun , Shinobi and After Burner had received the same treatment as Galaxy Force, Space Harrier (not the 3D one obviously!), Monster World and Phantasy Star.

I haven't touched my 3DS in 8 or more months so I have yet to try out the 3D series. I have a Japanese system, does anyone know if there are demos?
