Yeah, this one requires a hand truck, and good luck finding something strong enough to sit it on. I bought it thinking it was SD and I could use it for lightgun games and ended up with a 27" RCA for that purpose and most of my general purpose gaming. This one sits in the soon-to-be nursery on top of a fiberboard filing cabinet. One day I will hear the crash.

It is really too bad it is so heavy too, I might have tried to retrofit it to my Shinobi cabinet with a bad monitor.

Problem with the big Trinitons is you can't tate 'em! The TV I have at the moment is a pretty good late era CRT but it's not flat on the sides unfortunately so I'm sorely tempted by a PVM... there's one for sale near me for €150 and I think I can probably talk him down to €100. The appeal with pro monitors to me is the aesthetic. They've got a nice industrial look to them.

I am using a 27" RCA as well, but I would prefer a 27" Sony or similar that had component input. Why wouldn't light guns work?

The HD CRTs have no scanlines for the light guns to work with. Apparently they fake scanlines somehow, I forgot exactly how it works but it isn't much different than LCD, Plasma and LED HDTVs. I used RCA from about 1991 on, so I'm happy with my SDTV, which has Component input that I can use my RGB to Component adapter with, except for the silver shell. Plus, it leaves room in my console cabinet for wiring and controllers that would otherwise be filled with a 32" SDTV much less this Sony monster.

So, HD CRT's do have scanlines. All CRT's have scanlines. But their scanlines are higher resolution due to upscaling to a higher native resolution like 480p or 540p, even sometimes 720p.
Customized Sega Genesis Model 1 - VA3. Energy efficient with buck converters instead of LM7805's.
