Nintendo fanboys? Nah I don't hang around with them.
Although in England such a thing doesn't exist.

My Dad had bought it brand new with quite a library of games (including the 1st 2 Swordquest games!) Theres Beta tape footage of me playing it as a kid. I wouldnt say it was 'retro' at that point, more like 'oh....you're family must be poor cuz we all got NES's and/or Master Systems and/or 7800s...
LOL, thats awesomeWell, with any luck I wont have to deal with her - her BF (my ex/friends brother) is planning on movin out with her so I wont have to hear her mouth anymore.... 16 bit music to my ears....

My friends are pretty Nintendo-centric, but they do at least hear me out when it comes to Sega and do actually like some of their games. Myself, I like Sega more, but I had both consoles growing up and like them both. When I have had to deal with Nintendo fanboys, I simply mention the SNES games that I enjoy and show them similar titles on Sega consoles. If they refuse to listen, that's fine. No skin off my back, as they say.
How about dealing with fanboys/fangirls in general? Fanboys just ruin everything about nerd culture, the obsessivity of it all, you would think there was nothing more in these peoples lives than video games, anime, and worlds that don't even exist, why dive into something that has no substance at all, no real people to relate to? All it sounds like to me is an escape for people who just can't adjust to the real world, where it is infinitely better...
There is something to be said for escape, a good vacation has never been within my grasp. It is when people start going around pretending there is nothing to life but said escape that things have gone horribly wrong. A good gaming/movie marathon can set the mind straight almost as well as a long hike or vacation. I just don't need to become an elitist about gaming/movie marathons, long hikes or vacations.![]()

"Sega tried to have similarly strict licensing agreements as Nintendo...The only reason it didn't take off was because EA..." TrekkiesUnite
True, there's nothing wrong with a little recreation, but you're right, who is an elitist about long hikes and vacations, going to the beach, or going to a casino? With the exception of some Disneyworld fanatics, you can have an enjoyable conversation about those things and not have to deal with people frothing at the mouth over nothing. To try and have a conversation in this day and age with anyone about video games that aren't Madden or Mario Party (especially RPGs & Pokemon), superheroes, anime, cartoons, Sci-Fi Movies, is so fucking unenjoyable that it makes me want to just not associate myself with any of those things at all. Not that I like or dislike all of those things persay, but no one gets hot and bothered about enjoying normal things that aren't sports like they do about everything in nerd-dom right now.
Seriously, try having a conversation about any of the aformentioned things and you get one of two reactions: Don't know anything about it OR know so much about it that you get talked down upon for not having watched every single untranslated unabridged director's cut issue/episode/volume and watched every interview with the creator of said thing. I just want to watch something, I don't give a fuck what happens in the comics, or what happens in the alternate universe, or how the older X was better under the other director/writer/creator/illustrator. Good gravy. Or I just want to play some video games that I like, why do I really care what Nintendo is doing now, the "dilution" of franchises, or how making too many sequels "ruins the old games", no it doesn't. Shut the fuck up and don't play the new ones if you don't like them. Or don't force people to like every single game in a series. I play video games to pass the time, not to try to make other people think it's the best thing ever. And console wars, ugh...
Fuck fanboys, they ruin everything. Can't just casually enjoy something anymore.

Fanboyism was pretty cool as a child nowdays that shit is pretty stupid IMO. And you end up missing out on great games for every system. I do think Nintendo's damn monopoly in the 80s is what has helped them out alot. Then Sega dropped the ball on the Saturn but then again I don't know anybody that is my age that is a rapid fanboy...
*edit*
The only thing I hate is how overpriced SNES stuff is. I mean how the hell can Super Metroid be rare when the game sold over a million copies here? And DKC series is also pretty expensive. Comparable Sega games are like 5-10 compared to the 20-30 for SNES games.

It wasn't my Intellivision, my uncle and mom played it when they were younger. I tried to find that system again, but it's long gone, mainly because some of my cousins are twats with stuff that isn't theirs.
When I got my N64, I had a big 20" (or so) second hand Panasonic, so I didn't need to sit two feet from the monitor anymore.![]()
