Well, I wasn't actually trying to call anyone a fanboy, I was stating reacting similarly is the last thing we want to do.

I hate to get back on topic with this one, but BoostedGR33K, I've hardly read 2 paragraphs here, and so far this article is everything you need to tell anyone that thinks of Nintendo as infallible:

Yeah, it's not Nintendo's fault for being completely unaware of what people want, it's everybody else's fault for not wanting their stupid console and games.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

I don't even know where to begin with that.

I like Kirby. I like playing games as the pink fluffball. To a teenagers ears, that's probably the "gayest" thing ever, but I find his games fun.

That's just it, Nintendo's games are as fun as anything else, Sega's, games on Sony or Microsoft consoles, etc. However, if they're not giving the market what it wants, where Call of Duty actually is, that's not on the consumers.

The article is practically saying "Shame on you for having bad taste." To which I'd have to say **** that article writer (just not literally ).

That's the other thing about it, the majority of video game consumers aren't going to read that article. It's like they're bitching to the choir, while also blaming them.

There's a lot of electricity in a Genesis/Sega CD/32X combo. It would be a "shame" if anything "unfortunate" happened to a Nintendo fanboy/girl when you showed them around your place...

All but one of my friends are Nintendo-centric, but I love both the Sega and Nintendo of old, so that has helped a lot over the years. Being able to praise the games that they like on Super Nintendo has made it easier to show them the greatness of the Sega Genesis. I've been fortunate to not know any totally polarized Nintendo fanboys, as they were open-minded compared to the stereotype.

I have confession to make: I used to be a blind Nintendo fanboy in my earlier years. Now I'm the same way, only with Sega instead.

I'm a sega fanboy i guess...in the sense....that i would pick sega over nintendo any day...but i don't strictly play only one company...like many nintendo people do...i play whatever i think is fun...and nostalgic as well...

I believe if you get these nintendo people to play some sega consoles...they'd see they play pretty darn well....and in some cases (maybe most) had things that their nintendo counterparts did not

One thing...and i don't know if this should be a separate thread but why was Nintendo so successful in the beginning? Sega had 3-4 consoles in japan before the NES...and I don't know other than a few arcade stuff what nintendo had going...seems to me sega should have had a big leg up on them....just bad marketing on sega's part? and good marketing by nintendo? I guess they did VERY good at installing icons that are easily recognizable and imprinted on peoples minds...probably some subliminal messages in there ha...

Sega's first console, the SG-1000, was released alongside the Famicom in Japan and was less capable. It was basically a Colecovision with I believe more RAM. I still think that a lot of Sega's struggles in Japan are due to the company's American roots.

I don't know. It's not like Sega wasn't popular and influential in the arcade scene in Japan. It's just when the Famicom caught on there was no stopping it.

Did Nintendo have the same contracts in Japan that prevented 3rd parties from supporting other consoles? How did Konami and others break away and make games for the MSX and eventually the PCE?

It tends to mostly be SNES fan boys that are so narrow minded when it comes to sega. They tend to think Genesis was weak and had just worse versions of SNES games and a few exclusives with tinny music. I think this is caused by lack of public exposure of segas finer offerings on the Genesis, and especially on the Saturn and SMS. Dreamcast seems to be more accepted by Nintendo fan boys than all other sega systems.

Yeah, don't ever mention the SMS in front of those people. If they even know what it is, they think it's just that crappy system the NES crushed and it had only 10 games. They don't understand that the reason it didn't do well was because Nintendo bought the entire market for themselves, not because the NES was superior.
