i lovingly re-ordered some of them according to genre/mood/favorites, then played a handful of them, which i do nearly every day off, haha
I thought Heavy Rain was an exciting change of pace for video game storytelling. It started to crossover into an interactive movie that you directly influence. I was extremely hyped about it and I'm glad I own it.
Haven't tried Beyond Two Souls yet, so maybe that will be next!
Reviews in the pipeline:
Choplifter (Master System and SG-1000)
Ys: The Vanished Omens with FM Sound Patch!
in my opinion I liked the gameplay and pretty much everything about heavy rain except the story. the story wasn't very good and in general this is often case with quantic. however in beyond two souls the storyline is much better and the ending plot is simply incredible. I have not been more touched and shocked by a storyline in a game that I can remember. very well done.

I looked at it, added 3 games to it a couple days ago. Today before I go to work, I'll look at it again, and maybe decide if I should shuffle some games around to make it easier for me to find and play them.
I'm selling it, since game collecting is stupid, games are meant to be played, If I only had known this a few years ago....
Collecting for showpieces is stupid, but being a hybrid collector/player isn't bad at all. Play what you have, don't just have it to show off to friends like a museum.
Words of wisdom.
I recently dusted off my Japanese copy of Darius Gaiden for the PS1, Bloodreign. It's far from the best home conversion, but it's fun regardless. At the same time I'm planning to un-shelf one of the Space Invaders (the first) in order to play it drunk. And then I'm planning to move at some point to Chuka Taisen.
Tonight I have a meeting with Neon Light Illusion and Fatty Glutton.
I <3 my collection.

People talk down the PS1 port of the game due to slowdown, from a playthrough of it, it hardly looked problematic. Space Invaders is one of those games I bought on Saturn due to it being a classic. Chuka Taisen is worlds entertaining, but like Darius Gaiden, stay alive as long as possible. Dying in it means really struggling to get back to full power, though Darius Gaiden's best strategy is to not fully power up.
Doing some minor downsizing of the collection - already sold a batch o' stuff on ebay, pulled out some stuff for a second run. I don't think I need four Sega CD's lying around...or 7 non-functioning NES systems, lol.

My console collection:
Sega: Game Gear, Master System, Genesis, CD, 32x, Saturn, Dreamcast
Nintendo: GB, GBP, GBC, GBA, GBA SP, GBM, DS, 3DS, NES, SNES, 64, Gamecube w/ GB Player, Wii
Atari: Lynx, TeleGames Super Pong, 2600, 5200, 7800, Jaguar

I decided to clear out duplicates. Sold a NES with two games on ebay. It will ship tomorrow. One down, many to go...
It is finished!
Received my last Genesis game today and am done with my humble collection.
I feel that the greatest excitement there has been in collecting is in saving the money for the moment upon hopefully finding and buying that game you've wanted or of that manual you were missing, and bringing it all together; Like a treasure hunt for puzzle pieces that represent your own interests and likings, the act of collecting is perhaps greater than the sum of its parts in that sentiment as it is a matter of orchestrating a personal library. I had originally just set out on grabbing a select few games I knew I would enjoy endlessly, that reflected best the Genesis was capable of, discovering a few more-than-noteworthy titles along the way, and knowing when enough is enough.
Raided a few more places yesterday. Ended up with a couple game boy cases (a lot of mine were caseless from childhood courtesy of my little brother losing/destroying them), another memory card for the dreamcast (that for some reason has gameshark written all over it) got a pretty mint copy of altered beast and a copy of Jurassic park for Genesis, robotech the macross saga for game boy advanced. Oh, good time to talk about this actually. After I posted this thread, I was helping my brother dig through old stuff in his room, and he pulls outta this one drawer a damn near mint game boy advanced with a price sticker on it for 3 bucks. I told him 'I'll give you 3 bucks right now for it!' and he just looks at me like Im crazy and was like "this old thing?! Psht...you can have it....its prolly not even worth 3 bucks anymore...." I snatched it outta his hand and started playin the namco classics game that was in it. Pretty cool find, eh?
Also grabbed a big 6 button arcade stick for the genesis (trying to rebuild your collection after most of it is was stolen years ago is a nightmare btw) was trying to find an original 3 button arcade power stick 3 button like I had back in the day, but they had this aftermarket one for sale for 5.99 so why not? Works fine too. Not a whole lot, but a pretty little successful 28 dollar raid for shtuff...![]()
Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.
I'm pretty proud of some Vectrex end labels I made for my loose games collection. I had to do a few test prints, but I managed to come up with some labels that look nice and just put them on the carts today. Makes them look sharp and are easy to find. I've found fan-made end labels of other end-label-less carts like N64, but no one (that I could find) was making them for Vectrex. Most Vectrexers seem to have boxed copies anyways, but I'm a little newer to the system. And love it, too.
Made some end labels for the 5200 also which I'm gonna try out next!
