The series on the PS1 that Spike made, the name of which I cannot remember at the moment, was highly regarded. It is what became Smackdown basically. Tou-something Retsuden? I can't remember the kanji in my head at the moment. I am sure someone will know what I mean.

New Japan/Shin Nippon Pro Wrestling: Toukon Retsuden. Yeah, I had 4 on the Dreamcast. It was always Yukes though.

Always wanted to get the Legends of Wrestling games but I heard the gameplay sucked so I didnt bother. There were 3 of them. I wouldnt mind picking them up if they are dirt cheap which they should be.

I actually had 2 LoW games on the X-Box. The gameplay isn't that bad. There's even a story mode that goes through the style of the old territory promotions(in the 2nd one I think). What is bad though, is the padded move sets. You got guys doing things they never would, because the programmers felt they potentially could. Apparently King Kong Bundy could potentially somersault off the top turnbuckle. Hogan doing a backdrop/atomic drop setup into an inverted powerbomb. Screenshots of Showdown, in magazines beforehand, showed the Ultimate Warrior doing an Ace Crusher(or Diamond Cutter/RKO if you must). You get the idea. The Gameplay was unique, though it was similar to...Giant Gram 2000 in this aspect. That being that all moves will just impact, but if you hit the button at the right point in time, a bridging suplex, or a diving top rope attack, or whatever would end in a pin attempt.

why would I want to wrestle with pretty much any wwe guy when I could be wrestling the stars and wrestlers of wcw and also it has no combo system or ingame voices like revenge and the japanese games. revenge was loaded with stars on the roster. it was also the biggest improvement in any of the aki games imo. no mercy had slowdown and in general was much slower. wrestlemania 2000 barely improved anything except entrance themes. I got virtual pro wrestling 2 which whiped the floor with wm2k

WM2000/No Mercy had horrible presentation, everything had that dark/purple/blue shiggidy shiggidy waaaaaaa thing going on.

Sure it was more advanced, but the presentation was disgusting imo.

Yeah I read that they had wrestlers doing moves that they never used in real life. Meh, that doesnt really bother me as long as the gameplay is decent.

Really? They ported the DOR engine to 360 & PS2 and then didn't even use it in their SmackDown games? The fuck?
