im just wondering how come the likes of the simpsons arcade or wwf wrestlfest never got ported to home consoles?

a bit strange considering how popular they were in the arcades

1. You might have gotten more replies if you had posted in the Genesis part of the forum, its just a "why not" discussion,
there's no actual technical stuff is being discussed.


2. I dunno why they were never ported.. the C64 got a port of the Simpsons game! O_O

Since all of the Simpsons console games were published by Acclaim, I would think they had exclusive rights for consoles. Games on computers were allowed as they were a different market (like when Sony had exclusive rights to GTA, it kept it off the Xbox for a while but didn't cover the PC). Why Acclaim didn't license the arcade game from Konami, I don't know. Maybe Konami refused.

Wrestlefest may have also ran into licensing issues, as there were other WWF games released by Acclaim/LJN. Maybe they didn't want another game competing with the titles they had released.
