Default Best tool to keep track of your collection?

    Hello,

I've tested several android and windows apps (Sisimizi f.e. which is horribly outdated and relies heavily on scripts to collect gamedata), but none where satisfactory.

Out of the need I created my own Calc sheet to keep track.

As of now 1297 MD/GEN games are listed and its only missing some homebrew stuff.

If this is allowed and desired, I'd share the template.

Has someone found or is using a decent application - preferably something opensource+free - which would offer to include cover+screenshots, as well as additional infos, like GameGenie Code?

I use a Numbers spreadsheet to keep track of everything. Just a basic 3 header table for each system including game name, and a check box for the box and manual. It's great for my use, since it syncs over iCloud to my iPhone when I'm out shopping.

I signed up for VGCollect.com and added a few games, but I found it was easier just to keep my spreadsheets. It is helpful to use a site like that to confirm the names of games, as some are organized differently.

I use a spreadsheet as well, but I keep it all up on Google Docs so everything is accessible from my phone if I'm looking through stuff as well.

I used Word, but then accidentally lost the table I made. It was REALLY comprehensive too. This is my annoyed face, but you can't see it.

Never fails, even in nuclear winters*

    * Though if that were the case you wouldn't have much use for your spiffy plastic

GiantBomb, Backloggery & an RTF document. I used to also use MobyGames.

    P.S. - I like making lists.

I keep it all in my head; works better than any other method I've tried.

I wrote my own in 68000 assembly that runs on the Genesis...

Just kidding, but it would be pretty cool in a warped way if someone did that.

I just use excel. I include a list of the games I own, the genre, the region, and a list of games I want to buy.

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

I write it in no-bullshit text lists. With the format that goes like:

    CONSOLE:
    Title (Completeless/Region/Comments or notes)

So it ends up looking like:

    GENESIS:
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (CIB/US/"Not For Resale" version)

a free iPhone app called Video Games Manager. Works pretty well IMO. Has some in app purchases, i bought the Pro upgrade for 5.99...thought it was pretty worth it.
You can scan the barcodes on your games to put them in your list...tho now i realize why gamestop puts stickers on the back, to cover up the barcodes...bastards...

Quite a few fields to fill out if you so choose and you can sort/filter by anything you can think of
