ohhh, yeah i remember that era...still, never really played it but Mzo swears he ruined the balance/purpose of the game's color scheme, and made it grindy too. what a waste....i keep meaning to look up if anyone patched english into the japanese iso.

you're likely quite right but at least the input lag won't be so assy vs playing a PSX disc on the triple, ugh

I entirely agree with you. Nobody wants to bother with that, and the lack of quality upscaling really hurts PS1 games. Backwards compatible PS3s don't do that great a job with PS2 games either, making the games look blocky compared to their original appearance. Unless I'm mistaken, the PS3 lacks a hardware scaler, which the 360 has.

Regarding the "Captain Obvious" statement (I assume you misspelled it?), it was worth mentioning the composite/CRT route in the interests of being thorough. They really have no excuse for not getting around to programming in a proper graphical filter for their PS1 emulation.

The emulation is almost spot on. The only inaccuracies that I think I may have noticed are some games being slightly faster or slower than the original, but I may be wrong. I am a PSP user who doesn't have a PS3 at the moment, but have tried my PS1 purchases on a relative's PS3. I can confirm that the scaling looks horrendous unless you're using a smaller TV, and moreso a CRT. So there's no disagreement there. I noticed some games allow screenshots through the menu screen, but I believe that is an addition to the software packages with games like Klonoa which were added only fairly recently. We'll see how PSN deals with this, but for the most part they do a hell of a lot better than Nintendo's VC.

I don't want anything on the PSN. But I've always wanted to buy original hard copy disc versions of Strider 2 and Silhouette Mirage; besides every exclusive RPG, of course.

Yes its misspelled, I don't use the word "captain" that often.

The idea of bringing PS3 to the retro corner wouldn't be that bad, as the Slim/Super Slim PS3 can use the exact same power and video cables as your PS1(for real). So you just literally swap the systems to play old-school PSN games.

But of course the PS3 won't auto detect S-video cables, so you gotta manually switch the console to 480i everytime. I don't got time for crap like that.

This. Strange it saw an Europe only release; it's a really good game.
