    Default Steam: Ikaruga

Anyone have the Steam release of Ikaruga? (I'm looking at you, Knuckle Duster)

I'm considering getting it because Treasure is one of my favorite smaller developers out there and i want to support them. I'm not a big fan of DRM but its only ~$10 so not a big deal since it's helping to put food on somebody's table.

What i want to know is, how does it compare to the Dreamcast version? Also does it support PC/USB gamepads? (I have an old USB gravis gamepad...!)

I don't have it (yet) plus I'm not that familiar with every single Ikaruga release (played the XBLA demo and a bit of the GameCube one), but from what I've heard the game is based on a somewhat recent arcade revision (Ikaruga for NESiCAxLive, running on Taito's Type X2 hardware), with the features from the XBLA version (sans online play) plus additional ones, and apparently the XBLA version didn't play a lot like the arcade/DC/GC versions, so this one's closer, no idea.

It only supports XInput controllers, so no, it's unlikely that your Gravis controller will work, unless a later update adds DirectInput compatibility. If the description's anything to go by, you can actually use the mouse, as well as the keyboard.

You could use the 360 controller emulator, or Xpadder (or the like) to map keyboard keys to the gamepad inputs.

I have it. It's a 331MB install, it works perfect with 360 pads, not sure about other ones but you can just emulate that function with xpadder.

The game is better than the XBLA or DC versions just because of the features and settings available. It has a few different modes and you can fuck around with the HUD displays on either side of the screen, and it shows your earned achievements there. Performance is good for me, but I have good hardware. Not sure how it runs on the integrated APUs and I don't have any to test it on.

It's a huge bummer that you can't reconfigure gamepad controls on it. Either xinput or nothing.

Also it's odd to have the game in English; I'm used to everything using moonrunes from the DC version.

However it supports TATE mode if you have a pivot monitor which is AWESOME.
