My most played fighters would most certainly be VF, VF Remix and VF2. I played VF2 to DEATH! I must have put 10's of thousands of hours into it. I also played the shit out of Fighting Vipers and Megamix. I kept playing VF2 well into 97.

On the 2D side, the SF Zeros would have to be number one. SF Zero 2 also had tens of thousands of hours into it. Vampire Hunter had a lot of play too. XMEN vs SF was another played to death, I loved it and took great pleasure in bragging about how arcade perfect it was on the Saturn and that the PS1 just could not handle it. EX did get released a year later on the PS1 but it sucked big time. The same scenario applies to Vampire Saviour.

I almost forgot about KOF '95 too. I played THAT to death also. I guess my Saturn just saw a lot of fighters back in the day. Others I played a lot would be Fighters History Dynamite, Real Bout FF Special, Golden Axe: The Duel (I tried very hard to like it and forget that I wished it was Revenge of Death Adder), Dead or Alive, Groove on Fight, Rabbit, Sonic Council, Anarchy in the Nippon, Waku Waku 7 and SF Real Battle on Film.

I also played a hell of a lot of XMEN Children of the Atom but it was not that great a port. Same goes for Marvel Super Heroes. Biggest disappointment to me was the SF Collection. SSFIIX was fucking awful. Crapcom really fucked up that port especially compared to Vampire Hunter which was more advanced than SSFIIX. SSFII New Challengers played perfectly but SSFIIX was a framey, jerky mess on anything but 1*.

In Alpha 3 I tend to use either Ryu, Ken or Cammie. In Fighter's Megamix I tend to use Bean and Rent-A-Hero.

I also want to give a shout out to the Bloody Roar games (1&2.) They never got the credit they deserved but they were fun as hell and had awesome soundtracks.

2D - Street Fighter Alpha 2 (prefer to it 3 before anyone says), Saturn version I guess? Is there a PS version?
    3D - Maybe Virtua Fighter 2? I don't play many 3D Fighters, Tekken 3 is a honorable mention.

There's PS1 versions of all the Alpha's, and no they don't quite stack up to the Saturn versions. They are still fun to play though.

I know the Saturn version of SFA3 trumps Playstation due to the extra RAM, I bet there isn't much difference between Saturn and PS1.

However, Saturn controller > PS1 for Street Fighter style games so, there is that.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a guilty pleasure and the PS1 version is better than Saturn (despite having no right to be) so there is that.

There's actually quite a few differences for Alpha 2.

    Saturn:
    Intro is real time
More background details and effects (Reflections in the water on Gen's stage, more bikers on Chun Li's Stage, etc.)
    Faster load times
    More frames of animation
    The game runs better.

    PS1:
    Intro is an FMV
Many stages are missing background details
    Less frames of animation
    Longer Load times
Game crippling slowdown for the most unusual reasons (for example when characters jump).

Alpha 2 Gold fixes the slowdown issues and the FMV is real time again, but a lot of the other issues like missing details and animation frames still remain. For the first Alpha the two ports are much closer, though the Saturn version still has slightly faster load times and better super shadows. Alpha 3 is hands down better on the Saturn, though the PS1 port isn't bad for the system.

Uggggggggggg, Jesus, that's a hard ass question........

I really love the Real Bout games for Kim Kaphwan and Hon Fu, and The Last Blade for Lee, Hyo, and the "parry" gimmick

But overall, I'd have to say that I prefer Garou for the Kim Brothers, namely Jae Hoon. I come from a Taekwondo background and I instantly gravitated towards those characters (as well as their father) and was able to master them pretty quickly, which I find personally astonishing given how shit I am at fighting games

If you like parrying, I know that Jin from Tekken has a really nice parry system. time your parry with the opponent's combos and you can completely evade damage.

    You're a Tekken 3 fanboy.

    It's painfully obvious.

3 is the highlight of the series, if you don't count tag tournament. What is that burger in your avatar?
