I've actually had Garou matches so fierce that it actually crashed the game. Mind you it was the proto build, but I've rarely had problems with it prior to that

I don't know, there's a certain amount of grace and fluidity that goes with those games, sort of like calligraphy. When I play as Lee in The Last Blade, I visualize my barrage of moves as brush strokes. I don't mean to wax philosophical, but I really and truly do that

Which fatal fury did you cash? We were just playing the standard AES version of RBFFS

    Garou: Mark Of The Wolves

I've got a rom file that I emulate via WinKawaks, nothing particularly fancy. I was playing it in AES mode I believe, though I can't be sure

    Ah.

It probably wouldn't crash on real hardware, I've never heard of it happening.

I have RBS on NGCD and AES. Used to have the Saturn version, but I sold it on Ebay. It is among my favorite games of all time.

Bushido Blade is very different to Soul Calibur, or any fighting games for that matter. It has no life bars and you win by landing a clean hit which results to an instant kill. The game is far from perfect but I recommend to give it a try sometime.

Tekken 3 on PlayStation for me as well.

The entire trilogy on the PS1 are my personal favorite. The series stood out becoming a power house fighting game in the late 90s, when other previous big fighting franchises were losing steam, or unable to fit into the changing gaming environment which changed to 3D with the 5th generation.

I think there's room enough in the video game world for both 2D and 3D fighting games. A lot of them just don't transition well to 3D or have yet to be executed in such a way where three dimensions wouldn't be viewed as a hindrance

I'm not exactly a big fan of 5th gen 3d fighting games in general, but Evil Zone I do like, and it's definitely my favorite 3d fighter of the generation. It's different and really fun.

For 2d fighters, I'm not sure... I've never spent a lot of time playing 2d fighting games on 5th gen consoles. Sure I have some, but none that I've played a lot of... but I guess of what I do have, Darkstalkers 3 / Vampire Savior would be the best. The Saturn version is the best overall, while the PS1 version is also worth playing for its additional features.

Popular games I dislike include all of the Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Marvel Vs. games.

Winkawaks is pretty buggy and old, you can also crash Marvel vs Streetfighter, if you do Shuma-Goraths chaos dimension on the sewer stage (the only two-tier level in the game).

However the prototype Garou is buggy even on real hardware and has horrible balance to boot. I cringe on all the combo videos where it is crystal clear that they are using the prototype version to do combos that you can't do in the final game.
You can just do Kim Jae Hoons TOP attack to crash the Garou prototype by the way. Maybe other moves too.

I pretty much hate those games too. I have MvC1, it was one of the first DC games I bought... and I've still never beaten the final boss once even on the easiest setting. Impossibly hard game for me... I can handle SNK fighting games, or Street Fighter, but not that thing. And it's not just hard, but not much fun either; so fast, beam spam, etc... not my thing.

In comparison, at least the VF series did eventually get better -- even if VF4 and VF5 are kind of boring, they are at least decent games. As for Tekken, I still dislike every game in that series, but I guess Tekken 6 isn't quite as bad as the previous ones.

Well I may switch over to Raine at some point, felt that it was a pretty decent little emulator that did Neo Geo CD games surprisingly well. Main reason I was using Winkawaks was because it was the only emulator that I was aware you could switch between MVS and AES at will

I think that may have been what actually happened. Anyway, I tried to download an additional rom set to try and get rid of the bugs, but Winkawaks wouldn't except it as legit

Back in the early 00s, Kawaks could play Garou perfectly fine. I guess it's just so old and unmaintained now, that it doesn't work with the current up-to-date rom sets.
