Media Game Soundtracks: Which did you actually buy?

Ones I bought legally (or semi-legally, as with bootlegs):

    1. Super Mario 64
I found a few copies of these at a Walmart. Appearantly they came as freebies for Walmart's subscription to the magazine. The cashier couldn't find a price on them so they gave it to me for free, and this was the first music CD I ever owned. I still have it, too.

    2. Banjo-Kazooie
This was again a freebie offered with a renewed subscription to Nintendo Power but this time it was with my own personal subscription. A happy go lucky soundtrack for sure, but better than some give it credit for.

    3. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Scored an original copy of this from eBay. One of my all time favorite games and great music to go with it.

    4. Parappa the Rapper
This along with Klonoa was one of my motivations for getting a PSOne. Eventually I got an original Parappa OST from eBay. It was amazing to me at that time because it was one of the few games then that made great use of music and storytelling.

    5. Sonic Adventure
Ironic story about this: I had been searching for this OST forever when a complete copy appeared on eBay. I fought a bidding war and won it for $50. The item came and it turned out being an EverAnime bootleg. I contacted the seller and we agreed to a partial refund for two reasons: 1) I wanted to keep it despite this and 2) because it was a bootleg and having knowledge of it being rare period, he wanted to compensate some portion of it. Not long after, someone listed a legitimate, still-sealed copy of the same OST which sold for a mere $20. Tsk, tsk. Still a favorite though, and much better than the second.

    6. Sonic Adventure 2: Official Soundtrack
This is the legit US soundtrack which leaves a large chunk of the originals omitted, but good for what it was. I got it at a GameStop.

    7. Sonic Heroes
The official version. Not one of my favorites, but the instrumental tracks are bearable.

    8. Fantastic Night Dreams Cotton
Another eBay purchase but I recently sold it to a local record store for $10 in credit. It was never a favorite and I had a hard time getting rid of it so that's where it ended up.

    9. Vectorman
This is part of the Sega Tunes series. Suits actual gameplay better, as this is pretty standard techno fare by itself.

The rest is stuff not worth mentioning since it's mostly bootlegged Sonic soundtracks (had no idea when I bought them) and some legitimate pachinko music compilation. I'll update you when I find anything else I have worth mentioning.

Broken Thunder: Project Thunder Force VI- The OST to the never finished game for the Dreamcast. I have the second print of it, where they added a bunch of new remixes and such to the music that was in the first run.

Tecno Soft Game Music Collection Vol. 15: Best of Thunder Force- It came with my Special Pack version of Thunder Force V.

Killer Cuts- The CD that came with the SNES port of Killer Instinct.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence Limited Edition Music Sampler- Came with my copy of said game.

And that's about it for my CDs that I bought, or came with something I bought.

The only one I can think of is the X-Men 2 soundtrack. I still haven't listened to it yet.

    Just FFX for me.

I do have Killer Instinct soundtrack from my SNES cart purchase.

I will get Zelda Skyward Sword soon. Does anyone know if it still includes a Soundtrack?

Impressive! I've seen many of your purchases in the haul thread and you have good taste.

I've got maybe 20 or so albums. Stuff of note:

Koudelka (A boot, but under appreciated IMHO)
    Sonic Boom (Weird 90s release)
Final Fantasy XIII & IX (technically for my Wife)
Wild ARMs (Michiko Naruke does good stuff)
Ar Tonelico, All soundtracks and all hymnnos releases (GUST has a very unique musical style that I enjoy)
Lunar Songs 1 & 2 (Early Iwadare is amazing; I'd really like Grandia but it is still very expensive)

I (like many I'm sure) have a ton of mp3s of many albums, but much stuff is only peripherally good. If I really like an album I try to buy it if I can afford it.

A fair few. I'm a fan of Hitoshi Sakimoto, so I own a number of the OSTs he's done. Final Fantasy Tactics, Odin Sphere, FF XII, Grand Knight's History, Crimson Shroud. (I'd buy Dragon's Crown's OST if it ever gets released).

I own several of the Main line Final Fantasy OSTs that Uematsu did. IV, VI, VIII, XI, X. I also own the X-2 OST. I have Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 OSTs.

Also like Mitsuda, so I have Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Xenosaga Ep 1...I also have Legaia 2, which is a really understated one he did.

I have several of the recent pack in CDs that have been coming with XSeed's Falcom releases (Oath of Felghana, Ys Seven, Memories of Celceta, Trails in the Sky).

I have an OST for Secret of Mana.

Tommy Tallarico, back in the early 90s, released a compilation disc of a bunch of his stuff (mostly Sega CD)...I have that. I really like the guy who does the Atelier games, so I have a number of those. I LOVE the Wild Arms OSTs (at least 1-3...still haven't got around to getting 4 or 5s OSTs).

I know I have one for Phantasy Star Online.

I have the Panzer Dragoon Saga OST.

Finally, I have a number of the Castlvania music releases (including the really rare PCE Rondo 2 disc soundtrack.)

That's what I remember off the top of my head...I'm a sucker for OSTs, I'll generally buy them if they're offered as a bonus with a game.

I have several that came with games:

    Ys - 3DS
    Lunar 1 & 2 - PS1
    others I can't remember

I also have the Chrono Cross soundtrack. I always meant to get Final Fantasy Origins, but could never find it for a decent price. I'm pretty remiss when it comes to this and I feel like I should have a ton. I guess the fact that they're all so pricey is the reason.

JFLY does have some great taste!

My quest for videogame soundtracks started with the discovery of the Namco Video Game Graffiti series, particularly Vol.3 and the Assault OST.
Back in the early 2000's I saw it a few times for $70-100+ iirc, I finally scored a copy with writing in the insert (on the sheet music) for $30 in 2003.
That was right when the eBay seller champdespins (?) started selling, and he had tons of stuff listed at $0.01 auctions. I bought Keyboardmania discs just because they were cheap, and it turned out there are some incredible songs on there... that sort of started a collecting addiction to explore and discover obscure tunes. I've been listening to VG music almost exclusively ever since.

My most recent purchases are the latest remix/compilation from the Milestone Sound Team guys (now known as: Sakura Flamingo)
and the ROM Cassette Disc in MELDAC, which are both fantastic.

Jet Set Radio Original Sound Tracks - Japanese release. I think I got it off amazon.jp
Jet Set Radio Future Original Sound Tracks - ditto
Jet Grind Radio Sampler CD - US disc, I think it was a preorder bonus or something, though I got it second-hand
Jet Set Radio Future Sampler CD - ditto, both the samplers have some tracks not on the Japanese OSTs
Tommy Tallarico: Games Greatest Hits Vol. 2
Sega Tunes: Vectorman - not a direct soundtrack, all the songs are redone
Sega Tunes: Toejam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron - ditto, these are done by a live band
Comix Zone: Roadkill - identical to the "Sega Tunes" release but without that name
Club Saturn - "club remixes" of various Saturn game tunes
NiGHTS: Into Dreams... Perfect Album - 3 CD set, release coincided with PS2 remake
    NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams OST
Hudson's CD Game Music Collection '93
    MTV Music Generator Sampler
    Tempest 2000 soundtrack
    Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack
    Chris Hülsbeck: Turrican Soundtrack
8-Bit Weapon: Reset Generation Soundtrack (never even played the game...)

You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.

Never bought a soundtrack, but I do like to put the Sega CD version of The Terminator into the CD player at work.

Everything Virtua Fighter 1 and 2...Panzer Dragoon Orta...Sonic Heroes...not to mention collector editions such as Soulcalibur 5. I am eyeing on Panzer Dragoon for the Saturn.

For all you guys that posted soundtrack cd's from genesis games, wouldn't it be great if they were "enhancement cd's" which they had then that could both be used in a regular cd player but also play from a data/stage 1 start like from a sega cd while playing your game like Pier Solar did?. Amazing "WaterMelon does what Sega couldn't !".

"I do have Killer Instinct soundtrack from my SNES cart purchase." I used to put that cd in my snes cd-rom, the playstation, ouch - and play Killer Instinct on snes lol.
