Sonic Completed Sonic 3D Blast today...

Genesis original. I never thought it was as bad as some say, but it definately is not short of flaws. The fact that it was not my favorite in the series is why I held off so long from completing it. Really, it is at it's slowest when you're hunting for the emeralds early in the game. This can be completed right at Spring Stadium Act 1. Then you can simply work on breezing your way through the rest.

My total score at the end was 714,400 with all emeralds. No cheats used. This was done on the Sonic Mega Collection for Gamecube which has no savestates. The stick actually suits this game pretty well.

In the end I have to say I prefer the Genesis version over the PC and Saturn ports. The load times and more difficult special stages of these versions make the game seem even longer which is already long enough for a Sonic game. Still, I enjoyed it.

I had the PC version, no idea what happened to that disc, but it probably wouldn't work(or at least not well) on a modern OS anyway. I think I used to get to the 4th boss. Maybe it's nothing for European PC gamers, but running around looking for stuff in that viewpoint is the biggest issue for me(I can tolerate Landstalker, but it's not my fave action-adventure, and it's probably why, despite how good it is, I rarely play Dungeon Magic).

I prefer the Genesis version as well because the music is better.

This game is so overhated, nice to see it actually get some love.

Glad to see you've enjoyed it. 3D definitely isn't Sonic's best outing, but its still a fairly decent title. In fact, it could be loved a bit more if it wasn't compared to the other Sonic games on Genesis. Hmm, I may as well whip out the Saturn version soon and give it a go since I never did a proper play-through.

Nice game. Great graphics. Never came close to finishing it. Controls are the problem, they make the game too hard.

I think that's mostly because the Saturn port was used as a band aid to comfort the butthurt fans were feeling over X-Treme being cancelled

I really don't know why Sega just doesn't re-release the Saturn port with remixed versions of the Genesis soundtrack. It'd be the best of both worlds
