In Utero pretty much established that, but it's all about that one defining album. Nevermind sold 30 million copies and was pretty much one of the best selling albums of the '90s. Gun N' Roses will always be remembered as one of the greatest bands of the '80s, because of the massive success of Appetite for Destruction. The rest of GNR's albums were pretty much just okay.
Back in Black was pretty much the best selling album for the band and one of the greatest selling albums of all-time. I remember AC/DC in the '70s as being this cool edgy band with a different kind of sound, but when Back in Black came out, everybody I knew was playing the album to death and even to this day it gets heavy air-play on the classic rock stations. Back in Black is definitely the album that propelled the band to superstar status.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."
It is up the band. They are the ones who make the music. Before they were famous most had numerous lineup changes and it didn't stop them then. Sure it's much more shocking when it happens to well established bands but its the way it goes. Maybe they're doing for the money but it's not unbelievable to think they may just want to keep playing music. If I were in that position I sure as hell wouldn't stop.
Wait, what? I'm not a fan of Queen but, are they still touring without Freddy Mercury? Because that would be soulless bullcrap, even worse than The Doors of the new millennium (which I shamefully went to, but at least I got to see a 12 minute Robbie Creager flamenco guitar solo).
Adam Lambert from American Idol is the new Queen lead singer, officially.
^ and before that it was paul rodgers in 2004-2008
at least john deacon walked away from this crap
queen isnt queen with out freddy
Kitsune in a hat
It'd be awesome if they had Freddy Krueger as the lead singer to replace the other Freddy.
it would be even more awesome if freddy was still alive

To each their own, but personally, I like the Bon Scott era better. Nothing against Brain(love Hells Bells, Thunderstruck, You Shook Me All Night Long, For Those about to Rock, Rock 'n Roll aint Noise Pollution, Have a Drink on Me, Heatseeker, Money Talks, Shot to Thrill, Who Made Who, etc.), but there seems to be a certain energy to Bon's era that's not there with Brian's. It's almost like why I'll prefer David Lee Roth's era of VH to any other.
I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Genesis yet. They were still awesome when Peter Gabriel left, and they were still just as good when Steve Hackett left. As soon as the two guys left, Genesis started switching from progressive rock to pop/rock, albeit some darn good pop/rock. Oh yeah, I still think Genesis was great when Ray Wilson replaced Phil Collins for the Calling All Stations album.
