    Saturn sonic jam question

    i was wondering is there a way to hack sonic jam on the saturn so that you can replace the mega drive sonic games with another sonic game?

    i.e replace one of the sonic game with another sonic game

    I doubt it, from what I read the Sonic games on there are not Mega Drive roms but actual Saturn binaries, compiled from
    rewritten Sonic source code.

    No, they were all reprogrammed to work on Saturn, thus are all actually real Saturn games. Emulation would have been far too slow to be anywhere near playable.

    Wait, so you mean that the Sonic The Hedgehog in Sonic Jam wasn’t using the original MegaDrive version’s data?



    YO: No, it was based on the original data.



    NH: It’s doesn’t run on an emulator; I think the original code was most likely adapted for the Saturn. It’s similar to how people
    got arcade games running on the X68000. It was a pretty common approach for titles in the latter half of the Saturn’s lifecycle.
    This is also similar to the method used to run Space Harrier on the Super 32X.
