Shakespeare I need a little help from native english speakers

    Hi guys,
I started doing my own little youtube show and decided that I should make it in English so that more people could follow it worldwide. After three episodes I'm starting to have serious doubts because I'm a bit nervous on camera and it is much easier writing things down in English then actually speaking it in front of a camera. So now I'm considering to switching to my native Dutch. It are mostly dutch-speaking people who watch it (from a game related facebookgroup I'm in) and I think my jibber jabber would be more catchy and to the point.

So that is why I want some native english speakers to voice their opinion about my language. You may comment on the content but please also advise on the language: can you understand me clearly and is it clear what i want to say? Or does it all sound like caveman jibberish? Don't hold back please.

    Thanks in advance

I'm not a native speaker and I understand you just fine . You should put dutch subtitles though if your audience is mainly dutch (assuming you want to keep the chance of an international one).

Also, get some recording equipment, filming screens with a camera = bad.

I'm pretty sure most English learners around the world would give anything to speak as well as you do!

You English is perfectly fine and you'll get used to the camera, so the nervousness will calm down. I think it's great you're trying for an international show. Not only is there a potentially larger audience, but you also get to practice your skillz Intro is too long, though

    Native English speaker, btw.

Your English is fine. It's actually better than the poor attempts of the English language that a lot of Americans try to spew out.

I am not native English either. I am french Canadian.

You have an accent but it is not overwhelming in any way and I can understand everything you say fine, which is the most important thing. You are doing just fine.
I find some native English speakers with mangled speech much harder to understand.
I personally do not bother with my native language on the internet as I acknowledge english as being the most universal language at this point and as such it is pretty much the only language I use.

I only have one video on YouTube where I talk , I kind of wonder how people perceive my accent. I have less accent than most other french Canadians but I still pronounce a few things funny when I am not used to say them. I try to work on improving my pronunciation by being conscious of when I say something that is not quite right, but it is better to not try to do everything perfectly and go on with the show

I want to put more videos where I talk in the near future. Mostly doing hardware demos and showing mods and repair stuff. I just bought a hand free frontal camera so my videos would be first person view. I still need a SD card for the thing though.

It's barely noticeable that you aren't a native speaker. Your English is probably a lot easier to understand than most native speakers!

I'm a native English speaker (US). I've grown up in bilingual town, friends, family, etc, but that said - I have problems understanding pretty heavy accents of non English speakers (more so than other people). Your English is completely understandable. You have an accent (almost sounded like it had a ~slight~ French twist to it), but it's not heavy at all. I had no problem understanding you and it didn't detract for from the video at all. Your tonal intonation is decent; it's ranges, but not distracting. You don't come across as nervous, so I say keep going with it.

If you're looking at improving your English, or just make it flow a little more naturally - then you should concentrate on two things native English speakers pick up on, accent and tone. If the accent is understandable, then the accent itself not really a problem (whether it's there or not). So don't worry about accent (there are a ~lot~ of different native English accents anyway, across all kinds of regions, so it's not a problem). Tonal intonations (sometimes referred to as inflections) can be slightly unsettling or jarring. This is more important than accent IMO. Language is like music, and people synchronize with each other. When a tonal intonation is unnatural, it's like hitting a wrong note or chord, or a hick-up in rhythm. This is important for smooth conversations, or presentations.

(For the record, I think UK English tonal intonations are strange (especially for question phrases). US English speakers tend to think it sounds endearing. If I lived in the UK, I'd probably get tired of it. But for shows and movies, it's fine.)

Every accent on earth sounds better than a German accent. Not fair.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.
