Default so in an instant someone elses dumb driving has RIP'd a great car

i had a really rare model S10 truck, it was the tiniest with that body usually only carries the 4cylinder. Mines had a giant 4.3 and man was that little truck awesome. I loved it so much it floated like a caddilac it drove smoother than newer cars i've driven with less miles

    this lady totaled it

2nd car i truly loved that someone else totally destroyed, my first was a 91 Supra THE DAY i dropped a brand new engine in it. Both cars got wrecked with immaculately clean and strong motors, but the insurance wont give a damn about that.

Now i got a rental and and prepared to find another car, i already know what i want so I just have to hope to get lucky when the check is here, since im looking for a used specific car with no rust.

It could be worse, you could have died in a car accident.

Thats awful . I'm sorry to hear it. I knew a 18 year kid who managed to pickup a 72 GTO. NOt the coolest of Gto's but still he was doing pretty good for an 18 year old kid. He spent an entire summer prepeing that thing for paint. I have never seen someone work that long on one car. Anyways a few days after he actually got it painted he was rearended by some stupid bitch in a brand new f-150 going 45mph. Totalled the Goat, the frame rails buckled and were litterally sticking out of the rear quarters. She never even said she was sorry. He did get a newer car out of it but still it was really shitty.

Hey, look at what happened to Tracey Morgan. Just be glad you're safe. And you're getting your money's worth? Pfff... You're good bro.

That's why you have to drive defensively (note - I did NOT say slower; slower is very often not driving defensively). It's not enough that you be a good driver, you also have to compensate for the fact that many others are really, REALLY bad drivers. Too many people don't bother - "If there's an accident, it'll be their fault." That's fine... as long as you like replacing your car (or maybe your family). It'll make a great epitath on your tombstone - 'He had the right of way.'

This is why I am 23 and still don't drive. I'd be a nervous wreck on the road worried about some dumbass crashing into me and taking my life.

If you're out in the country or a smaller town, you have much less to worry about. Driving is only seriously dangerous in major cities, especially something like New York City.

Not really. You might be more likely to have an accident, but said accidents will be at much lower speeds and unlikely to cause major injuries. Most fatal accidents occur rural areas where speeds are higher and the roads more narrow and winding. They also usually involve alcohol and/or sleepy drivers out in the middle of the night. If you're really paranoid about dying in a car crash, avoid driving from 11pm to 5am, especially on weekends.

It's all relative. There's nothing "seriously dangerous" about driving in NYC. Fender benders and scraping into other vehicles may be more likely, but there is little danger involved in driving down Broadway at 15-25 mph.
Driving down i-70 through Kansas and having a semi-truck blown out of it's lane into yours from the sometimes severely gusty winds, now that's seriously dangerous.

edit: ah, I see Chilly Willy already covered this
