I'm sure Mike is a decent guy in real life. I just find nothing about him entertaining.

With that mindset and my peronal preference, I could just as easily say "Genesis games are better than SNES games" like a retard and piss off an equal number of people or more.

Edit: Just clicked the link and noticed it's a NES and SMS argument. I do prefer more NES games than SMS games, but not everyone does, so my statement still stands.

Also, the guy actively went to an SMS video just to talk bad about people who were legitimately talking about the specs in the comments, said comments doing nothing to bash either consoles game library or the consoles themselves?

I just went and read the comment in context, and it looks like he was responding to something like I've commonly seen among Genesis enthusiasts saying certain SNES games "don't count" when achieving certain technical feats because the cart used an extra chip. Which I think is a meaningless criticism, so I agree with Mike on this one.

Mike's just very uninformed, and quite often just plain ignorant when it comes to video games (with possible the exceptions of the SNES and N64) and especially the hardware that runs them as usual or even anything technical in general, really. Of course the last thing he would wanna talk would be hardware.

Is the NES cartridges internal ICs discussion point valid? In my opinion no, devs can put whatever they want in the cartridge as long as it's affordable. But that's still my opinion and I'm not going to go out of my way to tell people otherwise.

Him and James are mainly movie guys, not game guys, so it's not at all unexpected, but at least James seems to search quite a bit for the AVGN episodes, and doesn't force his tastes on people, so those are quite fun.
They're also both very quite clearly NES, SNES, N64 and XBox fans, so always expect some heavy bias towards that side.

Really, just a few weeks ago remember the episode when Mike just had the TV with the XBOne on the whole time in the back?
Might be something "small" but it shows how much he wants the viewers to know what he likes and thinks it's best.

With all this being said I still give most of the episodes he pops in a single try, as long as James is also around.

I thought the XBone thing was meant to be a joke, after playing that POS VHS thing and just saying "Nah" to playing it when James asked.

People even thought Microsoft paid for that 'advertisement'

Considering it was filmed in his house and was on the whole time, I just thought it was of poor taste.
Guess the reaction varies considering how you feel towards his videos and the way he acts.

True, but I guess that just fuels the hate. considering they are now Internet Celebrities you'd expect them to know a bit
more about games then they do. with James its not that annoying because he brings it with a certain.. childlike flair.
He understands that there's more out there then Nintendo, he just doesn't seem to be interested in researching much.
AVGN was always more about acting a character then being about games.

But Mike always just acts like a fool who thinks he knows this stuff, but in the end he just ends up screaming in every vid.

Mike was griefing Pat Contri in Super Off Road. He's ok in my book.

James is also sometimes willing to give Sega credit when it does it better. For instance, Ghostbusters.

I know it sounds contrary to the AVGN persona but he at least comes off as liking games.

As a technical feat sure, but as something achieved by the hardware itself, no. It's not like anyone's turning it around and saying Virtua Racing counts as something the Genesis hardware could do. The comment was only explaining why the game wouldn't come out as well on the NES, so I don't even see what got you, or him, upset over the comment.

The 3 comments, 1 from the same individual, from today that follows are pretty bad though.

It was a joke. They said it was a joke later on. The whole point was a joke about how they were ignoring the new console in favor of an old one, even an old one as bad as the ActionMax. Really, you didn't get it?

I hate Mike. He's not charming, not funny, not cool and not a very good artist to boot. And he's got more videos on AVGN channel than James. I don't always agree with James, but I can respect him. Mike? The nickname "motherfucker" suits him well.
