Default Scart Pin 16 100 ohm resistor ok to use?

I know to get some TV's to switch over to RGB you need a +5v supply from pin 8 to pin 16, ive seen diagrams that show that a 180 ohm resistor joins pin 8 to pin 16. I dont have any 180 ohm resistors here would a 100 ohm or 220 ohm resistors be safe to use in place of 180 ohm?

Pins 8 and 16 need different voltages, the resistor is there to lower the voltage for one or the other pins (forgot which).

yeah I know that and it's pin 16 that need the resistor, my question is will a 100 ohm resistor be enough to lower rage voltage so the TV switches over to RGB video mode

The SCART specification tells that a voltage between 1 and 3v is required to make the TV enter RGB mode. The input impedance on pin 16 is 75 Ohms. Doing a bit of math on the voltage division, you get that the resistor needs to be between 50 (for 3v) and 300 Ohms (for 1v).

Actually, 100 Ohms is one of the best values to use, since it gives a voltage of 2.14v.

5v on pin 8 makes the TV stretch the picture to 16:9 format. That's just horrible

You need between 9 and 12v on pin 8 to get 4:3 format. I recommend using a tiny charge pump converter of some sort. ICL7660 is the one I use.

Bare Knuckle III rules! Also, the music in this game is freakin awesome.
