Haha, that was my auction. This kid offered me $230 and your right, I did an 'Effin backflip. My mother in law worked for sega, so that is how it was acquired. Hopefully, for him, it sells for much more than he paid, but I have my doubts.
So what does everyone think? Did I make a stupid mistake or? Is a glove REALLY that collectible?
Glove AND the game.
I really want to see just how much this other guy can sell it now. I mean no one really even knows about the glove unless they saw it on the back of the game's case. It's possible it well go for less but I can't honestly be sure.
***Visualshock! Speedshock! Soundshock! Now is time to the 68000 heart on fire!***
If you look at his other listings, you can tell he knows what he's doing...and with that following, people may be looking at his "see other listings" link, increasing exposure. If I were him, I'd make sure this was posted from Twitter and just about every other outlet you can fathom, just due to how rare it really is.
As to the original seller, I don't think you made a mistake taking just $235 for it...it's one of those items that, though rare, most people don't even realize it exists...which, I think, will always keep it at around that level.

Thanks for joining and sharing the info!
That's very cool, if you mother-in-law worked for Sega then it's possible this was more of a promo item and was never actually distributed by Kaneko. I wouldn't say you did bad in selling it for the price that you got, you might have gotten more if you had hyped it up as much as the current seller is doing. Plus, apparently putting things in acrylic boxes makes them rise in value, haha!
It's fascinating and gross to watch a professional reseller at work.
Well, you've got to give it to him, though, the balls to start the bidding at $0.99 with *no reserve*.
Honestly, I just don't see it climbing back up to $235, but I can see a last minute surge to around $150/$180. I wonder if he'll actually ship it out if it ends up being at $60 to $80 loss. I guess we'll find out...

He should have at least waited until my auction was no longer searchable on ebay. I think the original price he paid, will influence the selling price...
You could be right...but I think eBay ended item searches are there for, what, 90 days? That completely misses the Christmas rush...but, then again, so does a 7 day(or was it 10?) listing.
Looks like there's been a big jump, it's up $103 all of the sudden. Could be interesting.
I'd love to get my hands on that "The Immortal" letter opener he's got...but I'm sure I don't have the $50+ it's going to end up at. Still, pretty hip...

The kid was really weird. When he first bought the game and glove, a few days later after I shipped it, he messaged me saying it was didn't beleive it to be real because it was left handed, not right handed like on the box. It was a weird transaction, where I told to just return it to me... I literally almost has USPS intercept delivery and return to sender.. Just odd.. Anyway, it will be interested to see if his gamble pays off.. He seems to be quite the marketing professional!
Oh man, that's too funny...you've gotta love how someone can sit there and read a listing, view all the pics, pay a whopping $235 and then attempt to pull that stunt once the item has been shipped. I don't blame you for trying the intercept, with the way eBay is, I can almost see him giving them that BS and them going "That sounds plausible, don't worry, we'll make him give you a full refund and you can just keep the glove, and leave him a negative...thanks for shopping with eBay".

According to the other thread on this seller, he is selling off part of his collection "to pay for things". He might be a compulsive buyer and raked up a nice debt from it. I've seen people go in phases like this. Buy stuff, realize they can't afford any of it, then sell it all off. Of course it repeats. After he paid $235 for the glove, he might have had serious buyer's remorse and tried to talk you into taking it back. He kept it but is now selling it just a few months later.
I doubt this guy is a simple re-seller. Look at his items. There's not a hangtab missing from a single clamshell. Most of the stuff is in pristine condition. Resellers usually pick up a fair amount of garbage along with the good stuff. Of course, it's pretty common to use a second account for the garbage so that it doesn't harm the image of "quality", but I believe this guy's story.
