Default Sp!nz Show Room (Collection Thread)

    Hi everyone !

It's been now many years that i'm reading this board since as a truly Sega's lovers.

I think many of you know the legend as we, 16 bits generation gamers, used to choose our side between Megadrive and Super Famicom.

This is why i'd like to introduce myself as a Megadriver !

I'm the author of Sp!nz Show Room website where i talk about japanese retrogaming, arcade & mangas and also contributed to Sega Retro wikia, especially in Dreamcast Special Models page who was fullfilled by many mistakes.

Dreamcast is a special console to me and still my favorite one, this is also why i own every NTSC-J consoles (expected RX-78 i traded in the past and don't plan to get anymore since i don't really like it...).

I'm still in search of Sonic The Hedgehog 10th Anniversary Dreamcast Console to complete my collection and hope somebody here could eventually help to reach my goal.

I opened this thread to finally introduce myself and at the same time show some pics of my collection.

Over 50 pics are displayed at the Hidden Palace Zone, a page of my website dedicated to my game-rooms who could be originally reached by entering Konami Code.

Since i'm actually sorting my first game-room and thinking of a new layout only a pic of my Blast City cabinet and my Cave Collection can be seen but the second one is 90 % finished.

    I hope you'll enjoy it

Segata Sanshiro! Really digging that Blast City. The stools look legit too, as if they're from one of the Japanese arcades.

Very nice setup! You have your own little slice of Japanese video game culture there.

Hello and thanks for your comment !

Yeah the stools are coming from the same manufacturer where Sega used to order from his game centers.

There is many colors but i guess the blue is definitly the most appropriete color for a Sega's arcade cabinet

I got the chance to turn towards import gaming very early thanks to my father who had japanese friends since he is collecting Beatles and the Man From U.N.C.L.E.

This is also why i could get many games very cheap compared to now, especially most of hibaihins who are still in mint or new conditions.

Do you know if these stools can still be purchased? Do you remember the manufacturer? Not only am I looking into getting my own Japanese candy arcade machine, but these stools are a great fit for Japanese cocktail arcade games. I have an uncommon TAITO Lunar Rescue that could use another stool.

Unfortunately these can be purchased only through Yahoo Auctions nowadays or on forums if you have a chance to spot one.

Sometimes you can also spot group orders.

Yeah, you can find them YJA pretty regularly if you're looking. Getting a candy though, I'm jealous! I've wanted one for awhile but have had like zero luck finding anything close locally.

I just looked at From Japan for the first time yesterday... I'm awestruck about all of the cool stuff that can be found. Do you think getting an account through From Japan is a good starting point for Yahoo Japan Auctions?

I've missed a couple opportunities to get candy machines for a bargain. Some have been close enough too, in Denver, Loveland, and Utah. Probably won't be able to get a fancy Blast City, but I would settle for older SEGA (Astro City, Aero City), Taito, Namco, Capcom, Neo-Geo, etc. Some of these turn up in the strangest places.

Www.thegameroom.com, his prices are a little high, but he has a steady source of cabs that he will ship to people. I believe river services still sells Taito stools but you probably won't like what you're gonna have to pay for them.

@FuturePrimivite : thanks for the reputation point !

Well, i'm not really familiar with international arcade resellers (expected japanese) since i live in Paris but yeah i totally forgot Riverservice (maybe because i don't like their "licensed by..." control panel).

They sell Taito black simili leather stools but still i don't really know about the stools Sega use in their game centers.

And i totally agree with Crystalpepsifan, this is why it's better and more interesting to see if some people are ready for group order to save on shipment fees.

Ken's Game Room is in Utah and not that far from FuturePrimitive and I, I've looked at that place a lot since they're not too far but haven't been able to pull the trigger. Heh, we should rent a box truck and make a weekend of it sometime to get a couple out to Southern Colorado.

Thanks for the suggestions!! I bookmarked Riverservices. I'll have to order from them sometime, they've got some quality stuff!

If they ever come across some scratch-and-dent B-stock arcade cabinets, we might be able to get a great deal on Japanese machines. That Game Room site hasn't been updated in a couple years though. *Correction* They're selling a Namco CyberLead on eBay. Only drawback is the monitor doesn't rotate. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NAMCO-CYPERL...item58b1639075

I'm glad to announce that i received two heavy parcels from Japan, one including a major acquisition in Sega side.

Experts could already recognize it by seeing on my instagram gallery but i'll try to find some time to do proper pics since this is a kind of item you won't expect to find often
