If it happens on filtered sound version of SSF2, i guess it also happens on the normal one. I think it's more related to the way i patched Z80 bus req stuff than the driver itself. I did this part very quickly on SSF2 and i probably made a mistake (as not taking the bus on Z80 YM access checking for instance). I will have a look in that !

I verified Z80 bus req stuff and could not find anything wrong with it :-/
If the bug only happen on real hardware it will be more difficult to spot it on (still i have a small idea about it).

I had a look in the "Saturday Night Slammasters" Z80 driver code and unfortunately it's completely different from the SF2 one.
If the driver was very simple i could have invested a bit of time on it but in fact it's bigger that the one used in SF2 and looks more complex.
About SOR3, it uses a full Z80 driver (for music and PCM) and it's far more complex to replace it ! All this for (imo) a minor gain compared to SF2 games so definitely i won't work on these games, sorry guys :-/

Thanks a lot for having a look on Saturday Night Slammasters and SOR3, Stef!
Sad to read the news but at least it's good to know that Capcom actually put some effort on changing its audio at some point - no good results, though.

By the way, do you plan to release the code of your audio driver and/or notes of what you did in those two games you fixed?
That could lead/motivate some people to try to reuse your approach/code in the future and maybe fix the audio of a few other games.

Oh yeah i can make sources availables, need a bit of cleanup (i added some useless thing to fix the missing sfx bug which are useless). Anyway I plan to add new drivers in sgdk based on the same principle :-) I don't know if that will lead others people to patch other game, SF2 was an easy case after all ;-)

Stef, thank you for your work! Amazing how now it sounds!

Probably will be the same as Sor3, but... dont you mind to check to fix the sound of Story of Thor/Legend of Oasis? A pity the samples sounds soo bad, where the music is amazing, so the graphics!

    Best regards!

It seems like Koshiro was nasty with samples, even with later games.

Almost certain it uses a similar driver than SOR, actually it's very easy to test : take an emulator where you can disable the Z80 cpu (as Gens). If only voices are missing it means the Z80 driver is only handling PCM, if all music is missing then the Z80 driver handle everything and in this case it would require way too much time to rewrite and fix it.

SOR3 seems to use a similar driver to Story of Thor / Beyond Oasis, not SOR1 (SMPS 68k).

SOR2 might use a similar custom driver than SOR3 & Beyond Oasis (but it doesn't sound like it in my opinion).
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

Can the voices in Streets of Rage 1 be improved by using the MUCH clearer voice samples that are in the 4-in-1 and 5-in-1 Classics for the Sega CD? Same with Golden Axe?

Can akuma be added in ssf2 v3 rom ? (I know it's not Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, but just adding akuma sprite from sf alpha snes (?) and keeping last audio hack (v3) would make it ssf2t md).

Just adding the head and feet and then combined with Ryu's body would save much more space.

Agreed, I brought that up in the other thread along with other questions but only assman responded but not to the point we typed.

I wonder how hard it would be to copy ryu sprite to make it look like akuma as an extra playable character for ssf2 on genesis. Now that would be great along with audio update. I know ssf2turbo had akuma, but still.

This new audio v3 update is already cool but adding akuma would be a great bonus for a genesis version, like hey snes fanboys check this out ssf2t md ha.

Is there a color hack ips patch to this v3 version now like sf2sce version 7 ? I don't know how to do ips patch to v7 rom though. Can somebody send sf2sce v7 audio + color hack rom already patched and ready to play for my everdrive to my inbox please ?

Barone has been jumping down people's throats lately (the pass year?). No idea what's eating at him. He ~is~ a productive member, but he's kinda turned asshole lately. We all get a little moody from time to time and snap at people, but his mood hasn't evened out. Probably some real life shit, dunno. And I'm pretty sure he has me on ignore too :/

Been seeing a lot of attacking between some members here as of the past couple of years, too. And quite nasty as well. What happened to this place? Isn't a hobby supposed to be positive? With all the negative shit we have to deal with in real life, why force it on ourselves for our hobbies or personal interests? I'm all for a good debate, but this...

Considering you and I were able to even out, the current state of things around here is really very sad. I'm "in trouble" because I was having a bit of fun with the PS2 graphics thread, one of my only attempts at being satirical with the group's mentality actually. It really is too bad these topics can't be had fun with anymore.

You weren't called out for having fun, you were called out for posting misinformation as facts and then throwing a temper tantrum when your "facts" were proven wrong.
