At least you're not a Mac gamer. Ho ho ho.

Why do we even need to install programs, anyway? In DOS you'd just pkunzip to a folder, and when you were done you deleted the folder. Why should uninstalling programs fully be similar to neurosurgery?

Did you forget messing with autoexec.bat and config.sys? The Amiga and Atari ST was easier when it came playing games, and game systems are even easier then Dos.

I think PC Gaming is limited to a certain niche of gaming.

Games such as Simcity (2000 being one of my favooorite games ever) only work on computers.

Oh sure there was simcity on consoles, but you need a mouse to play them correctly. FPS games fall into this category also.

But you are right in saying that having a retro computer setup makes you a nerd/weenie. Consoles have matured differently than computers. They haven't just got faster CPUs and better graphics. They matured into different areas. 2D > 3D, game pads, etc. You can still run most old games EXACTLY as they were on old computers on a monster computer.

Although I do still enjoy using my dosbox sometimes for fun...

There are consoles that were you can add a keyboard and mouse. Linux has been ported to the PS2, Xbox and Dreamcast. Lets not forget the SC-3000 where Sega based a home gaming computer off their SG-1000. In reality the only real advantage PCs have going for them is higher resolutions as game system are mostly stuck with TVs yet the Dreamcast had the VGA adapter so you could hook your Dreamcast up to a computer monitor and the Xbox 360 and PS3 has support for HighDef TVs.

There is no reason why any game on the PC couldn't be ported to game consoles.

The High Resolution Idea is kinda lost now, since you can buy a huuge widescreen tv with 1080P Resolution and I think that beats those small computer monitors with monster resolutions.

Plus, Keyboards and Mice are hard to acquire for consoles, and they are not standard. I have a '86 dosbox that has the same connectors for keyboard and mice as today's systems. That can never be achieved on consoles for marketing reasons.

As game consoles become Internet terminals you'll see keyboards and mice become more common, for example the PS3 can use any USB keyboard or mouse.
