Yes, how dare a toy company make and sell toys...
I just recently started collecting games for my WII U, I feel its the right time and there are the right conditions for aiming at a complete library.
- Few games are going to be produced from now on, hence easy to keep up once you got all the past releases out of the way.
- Launch was so recent that you can still find new/sealed games and sometimes even at bargain bin prices.
Currently I'm at 66 titles. Anyone else going for the complete library here?
I think it would be a good and fun challenge. I have some games digital and know myself I would want the retail copy too to count it. I am taking advantage on some of low prices to get my game inventory up. I wont go for the complete library i buy the games i intend to play.
I probably will be taking advantage of current circumstances to buy a Wii U used, as there are a lot of games for it that I really want to play.
The new and sealed games you find at cheap prices normally aren't the first party highly desirable titles. As an example look at NSBWiiU. Two and one half years later and it is still retail price. Also, it is hard to find some of the early launch titles still new and sealed. Nintendo must screw with production numbers somehow because even back to the Wii, many first party titles stayed on the shelves for a very short period of time. I have not been to a B&M store selling Pikmin 3 since a few months after release.
No in fact first parties (not exclusives, just fp) I usually buy at launch, but that's a Nintendo staple. They always were very conservative about their first party titles pricing. Knowing that i get the Nintendo titles "out of the way" when they come out and then wait for the third parties (unless i want to play them too).
In Europe distribution is not very good, but since not many people own a Wii U i easily tracked down many titles. Maybe in the US it is slightly different? Stores here have Pikmin 3 usually, for example..but funny enough they usually don't carry Deus Ex Augmented Edition or Monster Hunter (which here are both hard to find at good prices, when you find them , its full price 9 outta 10 times).
I think amiibos may cover a lot of costs for nintendo. They sell like gangbusters so far. Theres still no single game that locks out very important content. Its mostly present kind of stuff for owning the thing. And they work for multiple games. So you have a 12 dollar figurine work for multiple games and more down the line.
To me amiibos are not that great. Despite aknowledging that they lock content, I think they cover a lot of costs for nintendo. I mean yoshi woolly world could do very well, but with the amiibo itll be more of a succesful product overall. I mean for small projects like woolly world it isnt a big deal. But imagine a huge scale metroid game. With a bit of amiibo functionality, amiibo get sold and gets counted on top of the game sales. I mean it may not be a lot, but if it encourages nintendo to make big projects since theyre not wreckless but very conservative, by all means.
Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third. Release date (Japan) 8/04/2015.
SO MUCH do NOT want. Keep that shit away from games I actually might want to play.
Those figurines have their place in the Skylanders/disney infinity sort of games. Things with huge casts of characters and a market full of little kids and/or collectors who want to obsess over everything.
But I absolutely don't want to see that crap spread out to "mainstream" games.
That looks interesting, but I'm assuming it will sell terribly on the Wii-U, it looks like a game that would be a much better reception on every platform except Nintendo's really.
The DOA/Ninja Gaiden influence is pretty obvious (unsurprisingly given who it's made by).
Anyone else annoyed by this? They announced a "Special Edition" Splatoon set -- but it's just the standard console bundled with a download code. Hella weak. I would've been legit tempted by an actual Splatoon console.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
