I'll take some photos of both after I tweak the pots to get them close to one another and you can judge for yourself. All in all I think the Genesis is a tough bitch to do component on with anything out there and make it look right. Other consoles are a bit easier it seems to get the image to look right.

So I went back to try and fix the little issues this circuit has like the bleeding of Green into some black areas of certain images and the blues and greens being off and I have succeeded! The colors match that of composite but obviously looks brighter and sharper, I made a video comparing the 2 but it was my cell phone since I don't have a capture device (anyone recommend one that works with 240p and won't break the bank?). Composite is on the left and Component on the right, just pause the video at certain spots to see the clear differences and I have uploaded the correct schematic on my previous post with the schematic and boards.

The testers that received or are to receive the boards please add the extra resistors before the 100uf caps and also change the resistors after the 100uf caps to 2k resistors.

I should have posted in here sooner. I got a test board from helder and can verify it works great on my hdtv, 32" bravia, that support 240p over component. I'm just failing misserably at taking pictures right now. I have a decent camera, cannon eos rebel, but the pics turn out way worse than what is actually shown on screen.

@Helder I'll try the tweaks you just suggested and try to take more pics.

I know what you mean, I have a good camera but takes shitty pics of CRTVs and my cell phone does ok but neither show the real difference of how good it looks in person.

Another little update from messing around with this circuit. I was able to get it to show an image on my new LED LCD but only worked with Sonic 2 which showed half the screen but played fine in full screen in 2 player mode in 480i. Anyways the settings I had worked really well but I did notice some slight blue in the picture overall and made the proper adjustments and then tried this on my CRT with the same settings and I believe these settings are the end all be all for this circuit.

I have ordered 2 different batches of these new changes and once I test both (one is as close as possible to the pot values using multiple resistors and the other using standard values) I will post the final schematic and move on to other systems to get some solid values as well.

Alright I've made the suggested edits to my test board and took some pics; still on my va2.3 with Samsung encoder. This time I used the family JVC LCD. I picked this TV up some years ago while living in Germany. It's a little dimmer than the Bravia but it supports PAL and NTSC. Also while testing I found that the Bravia won't work with the PBC over component but the JVC has no problem. The JVC also doesn't have as many deinterlacing artifacts. For instance while playing sonic 2 when Tails is running his tails don't turn into a solid deinterlaced image like they do on the Bravia. They remain two distinct tails. On 2 player mode though they do deinterlace into the solid image like the Bravia does all the time; I think this is because the 2 player mode truly is interlaced.

I've been talking about HDTVs because Helder specifically wanted to know about his board working on HDTVs that supported 240p over component. But CRT is still where it's at, and this board works phenomenally on a CRT that has component. I really wasn't expecting a difference between S-video and Component but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a noticeable improvement. Will it be worth it for most people? I don't know, but experiencing the difference makes me wish I hadn't spent so much time messing around with s-video. This will also have the benefit of working with the Samsung encoder systems which can't be modded for s-video.

I know you've all heard this line before but... The pictures don't really do it justice.

Fingers crossed sega-16 will shrink the images to fit the forum. Sorry if it doesn't but they aren't too huge.
Edit: Ok they did. If you really want to get in there and see it full size just open the images in a new tab.

Just found one of these on eBay for £20 and thought it was worth a punt (having mega sync problems with my Saturn via XRGB mini). Anyone have any experience with this? For such a low price I figure it's a justifiable risk.

Worth a shot as long as it upscales (will likely need it for classics with 240p) decently but I think the saturn can output in 480i. To stay on topic I have also made the settings for the NESRGB and it looks great, I will be getting a capture card this week so I can upload some videos.

Ok so I finally got a good capture card and also finalized the schematic for the Genesis and have some prototype boards I used to make video and I also installed the Mega Amp. Tell me what you guys think (youtube compressed it to shit though but I will make some more soon).

Looking good Helder. Sorry I haven't made those last tweaks you told me to yet. I had one hell of a busy week last week and took the weekend to recover. I'm not sure what the secret is to making youtube videos look good. Every time I try youtube compresses it to hell as well.

This worked out really well. My Saturn was indeed outputting 480i, and my MD worked nicely with it too, though I forget what it was outputting. It seems a bit daft when I have RGB SCART on tap for both consoles, but my current Panasonic LCD seems to process component video signals much more nicely. It's also nice to have another connection option around too.

Also, my TV shifts the 50Hz MD picture to the left a hell of a lot with SCART, but not much at all with this device in the mix.

    Hi

If you still need help with testing, I have a 32" Samsung HDTV that takes 240P and have a Genesis Model 1 and a NeoGeo to test RGB.

    Regards.

I can't seem to get it to work with my Genesis Model 1. I double checked to make sure all the solder joints were good and that there was no shorting, but nothing shows up. I guess I'll try it on one of my Model 2 VA1s. If it still doesn't work I'll just send the board back to you Helder or to someone else. I successfully soldered a hacked PCB board to my Xbox 360 Slim's DVD drive so Idk if it's the fault of my soldering work or not.

Something should have shown up if the correct points are soldered in, also check the orientation of the diode as a possible fault (white bar should be on the right side).
