    Default Best 2D graphics?

In your personal opinion, which game has the best 2D graphics ever?

Does 2.5D count or are we talking purely 2D?

If we're talking purely Mega Drive I don't think you need to look much further than Toy Story.

But Toy Story used pre-rendered 3D-graphics as base. Sure, they appear as 2D gfx technically in the game, but Iīd think he means more the handdrawn type of graphics.

As this is Insert Coin, we're not talking purely Mega Drive. Toy Story wasn't that amazing anyway IMO -- I'd put Red Zone ahead of it, easily.

To answer the question, I'm not sure. Astal was pretty amazing-looking and has to be up there. Super Tempo was gorgeous. Maybe some new-ish shooter deserves the nod, but I can't think of anything.

Not sure if they would be the best overall, but the early 90s Disney games (Aladdin, Lion King) have really good animation.

Are we allowed to go into 32-bit games? The Saturn version of Rayman still makes my jaw drop.

Seriously? I mean, they look okay, but for example PS IVīs overworld/village and dungeon graphics donīt even hold up against all 16-Bit competitors of the very same genre, let alone such beauties of later times as Odin Sphere or SaGa Frontier 2.
