No, not *any* laptop suffices for emulating the dreamcast (nt speaking about Saturn).

Which is why I mentioned dedicated memory. If a laptop comes with 512MB+ of dedicated video RAM chances are it'll emulate the Dreamcast and maybe even Naomi 1 at playable speeds. There's even a DC emulator for Android, but I wish they'd release a x86/x64 binary already!

One more thing, Snake's KGen was pretty good and it ran full speed on Pentium MMX, much better audio than Genecyst.

The Smash Pack I actually reviewed it on Gamefaqs a long ass time ago but yeah the music was shitty. What is funny is that SoA downloaded the roms somewhere online.

..idk, saying megadrive isnt popular to emulate on dc but neo geo is or master system emu is damn near perfect plus more low key systems emu on dc..it has like 25 consoles emu'd..hmm megadrive is usually in most people top 5 or 5 concoles of all time..

If it frustrates you so much why don't you learn the hardware of both systems and make your own emulator?

It's a question that doesn't really have an answer you'll find satisfactory. No ones done it because no one has given a damn to do it. There's Genesis emulators for tons of other systems that are far more popular to turn into emulation boxes (Wii, Xbox, etc.) that there's no demand for a Dreamcast one. So the ones out there are the ones that have been around for ~15 years since the Smash Pack came out. Either suck it up and deal with it or make a better one.

..i actually did help make another one..some options improved but still based off ssp/ech version really..again, i was just asking..maybe in the past years somebody did make a better one we dont know about..if not then cool..but md not popular to emu on dc lol wow..

Did you look at gens4all?

It looks like it was made around 4-5 years ago, and has a pretty impressive feature list. I would try it myself but my dreamcast has been having problems and I've gotta find some time to repair the thing first.

Yes there was some guy that actually worked at Sega for something and he had confirmed the existence of VF3 on the Saturn along with a few more gems of knowledge. That and SoA downloading the roms for the Smash Pack I copied and pasted what he said so it is still on here somewhere not sure where though.

I didn't say the Genesis wasn't popular enough, I said the Dreamcast isn't nearly the popular option for an emulation box it once was. The Xbox and Wii have taken that crown from it. So there's no demand for better emulators on the Dreamcast because there's no demand for emulators on the system as a whole these days. It's like asking why there's no good NES emulators for the Saturn.

I might get flamed here but I really do not see the point of emulation on Dreamcast now. It was relevant in like 2003-2004 where you could get the console really cheap compared to PC but now with so many cheap laptops and android devices I don't see the point.
