arcade When was the last time you went (or saw) and actual Arcade?

Was talking about this the other day with some friends... (we were morning the loss of the last real arcade in our area)..

I Haven't been to a real arcade in proabably 4 (or more) years... for a short time there was an poor excuse for an arcade in a local mall (but it was more geared towards little kids)...

By traveling about 20 miles i could visit a Gameworks or a Dave and Busters... which now seem to be the last options for an arcade experience in this area..

Anyone else miss the old style aracde, dark, smokey, people waiting in lines etc.

I never was in an Arcade.
Arcades are for adults only in Germany. And since adults rather play games where they can win money, videogames are rare in arcades here.

Does Time Crisis II at a bowling alley count?

Sure! Some bowling alleys actually have a decent selection of games...

There's one at the University I'm headed to next semester. I went there a few weeks ago and it's basically dead in the summer (since there are few students taking classes). It had a nice selection of games though; HoTD2, Vitrua Tennis 2, Tekken 5, Metal Slug 4, KoF '99, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, MvC1&2, CvS2, Area 51, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, and MSHvSF.
Up on the shelf; it's a bird, it's a plane, it's Sega Genesis! Faster processing than a SNES, more powerful than a TG-16, able to play 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and CD-ROM games on a single system (with the CD, 32x and power base converter, of course)

I haven't been to an arcade in over a year. I perfer video gaming at home as the option to pause the game and have a quick kip isn't a problem.

The closest thing to an arcade was Chuck-E-Cheese in June.... and the time before that was Dave & Busters in 2005. The last dedicated arcade I was in was probably 1997... it's a damn shame the state (or should I say lack of) the arcades are in.

I've been to the one here recently, but it is a sad place.

All the games I would consider good aren't in very good condition. The racing games SEGA GT, Daytona USA, and Crusin' The World all have 1st and or 2nd player screens that don't work or are tinted green.

However all the SF2/SNK games are in perfect working condition.

Within five minutes on foot from where I worked previously there were three arcades. Not much, usual seafront stuff - penny flippers, two pence 1-arm bandits, Pac-Man pachinko machines, that sort of thing - although the OutRun2SP, Daytona USA machine (that got thrown away when it broke down ARGH), DDR machines and lightgun machines by far made up for it

I had a dream I was wandering around in an arcade last night, does that count?

there is still a arcade in one of the malls over where I live, but the selection is bad and the games are overpriced. last time i've actually been in a arcade though would have to be in 2002 when I went to gameworks when I was on vacation in arizona, now that was a cool arcade. there used to be quite a few arcades here during the 90s but they all mostly closed down around 2000 -2002 except for the one in the mall.

I went to one on the 7th at some mall in Syracuse. There wasn't too much worth playing besides Golden Tee, Galaga, and Area 51. Nothing else was interesting or was overpriced.

Besides that, there is an old-school arcade (like 1950's baseball games) in Myrtle Beach that I would visit at least once while on vacation with my family. That was two years ago though.

What university is this and where can I get a transfer application?

The only arcade in the relative area is a Time Out in the local (30 miles/ 60ish km?) mall. It has one old DDR machine and a bunch of racing games that were ported to the Sega Saturn and N64. Two lightgun games, Time Crisis II and MoCap Police...wait, no, there's also Area 51. Oh, and House of the Dead 2. It used to have one Marvel vs. Capcom 2 machine and a Soul Calibur II machine, but those have long since disappeared due to the unpopularity of fighting games in American arcades. Only damn games worth playing that place ever had. Aside from the air hockey table.
