Yeah, Battle Mania 2 is really fun. Only gripe I have with the repro however is the circuit board that's in the cart. Seems a bit thicker than the usual Official Cart so I'm probably going to invest in cart extender or a game genie for the occasions I play repro games. Unless you have one of those, best to get one of those just in case

The repro I purchased of Battle Mania was done on a recycled Genesis cart and shell from bitd. So at least with my repros, all of them are of the correct thickness. The only new game I've gotten for my collection on the Genesis that uses too thick a PCB is the homebrew of Escape 2042. That homebrew is flashed onto Krikzz designed and sold Genesis flash carts. I usually have my 32x always attached, but picking up a spare Genesis isn't a huge cost either to just use as a parts unit for replacing cart ports.

That picture is gorgeous! The games look great all lined up. I don't know how you find the will power to stop right there but good on ya for having a clear goal. You're a richer person for it!

Of everything here what are your 3 top favorites?

Thanks man - to be honest, I just threw everything down as I took it off the shelf! And pardon the lousy lighting...

Will power? I think it was just one-part focusing on games that I wanted to own and two-part giving myself limited shelf space, haha.

The only thing I think about doing is with Final Fight CD, I have the manual and am tempted to make a long-box for. I'd like to change out the 32X cases I have, the universal ones are average. And I'm tempted to make manuals for my reproductions. But that's really picky-stuff.

Top three favorites? Man, not sure if I can answer that one.

However the top three games that really surprised me, that perhaps I had overlooked or didn't even know about and feel anyone might like are:

    1. Twinkle Tale
    2. Alisia Dragoon
    3. Monster World IV

I've had my Genesis since '92, and looking back now, it's amazing how many excellent games there are on this system. Even with backwards-compatibility, and I don't own many SMS games, it is remarkable.

Only about a third are complete. For the most part I don't care about boxes unless the artwork is really nice. For example I always admired the Fire Shark box art. My favorites are probably Contra, Aladdin, and SSF2.

Here's my Genesis games list, it's short but i'm just going for a small set of launch titles, it's actually an expanded set of launch titles including everything that was launched the fall of 1989, so everything from the initial launch and also what was launched before Christmas of '89. Here's the List:

    Super Thunder Blade
    Space Harrier 2
    Alex Kidd Enchanted Castle
    Thunder Force 2
    Altered Beast
    Last Battle
    World Championship Soccer
    Super Hang On
    Tommy Lasorda Baseball
    Zoom!
    Forgotten Worlds
    Revenge of Shinobi
    Golden Axe
    Rambo 3
    Ghouls n' Ghosts
    Arnold Palmer Tournament Golf

(and i still need Mystic Defender and Truxton)

Sorry for the lack of alpha order lol. This list is in somewhat chronological order though.

    Hey nintendomaniac!

I love that you're slowly expanding on your Genesis Collection. It feels right for someone with such a massive Master System collection!

Your list really packs a strong nostalgia punch! I remember those very early releases so well.

Yes this is true, they're very nostalgic for me also. These are the genesis titles that everyone remembers when they came out. I remember my cousin got a genesis for Christmas back in '89 and he even had a bunch of these games we literally played for hours. I remember being blown away by how awesome they were, especially altered beast and ghouls and ghosts!

Yeah i do have a sentimental connection to these early genesis games, we'll see if in time i decide to go for all the genesis games, i would love that but it's such a hard task to start now.

Nothing wrong with starting with a goal and then seeing how you feel once you get there.

I was never really into sports games but when the Genesis was new I still ended up played a lot of Tommy Lasorda Baseball. It's pretty simplistic but it was still fun. Later, Super Real Basketball had me hooked just because of those slam dunk animations!

Of your collection these are my top favorites and games that I feel are still must haves:

    Space Harrier 2
    Thunder Force 2
    Altered Beast
    Forgotten Worlds
    Revenge of Shinobi
    Golden Axe
    Ghouls n' Ghosts

I think Golden Axe would make my top 10. I also really love Ghouls n' Ghosts but I never had the stamina to continue playing after defeating the devil end boss on the first round through the game. It was so daunting!
