Don't get me wrong, if I would just be rating 20 SCD games Monkey Island.would probably be in there. But a point and click Adventure without mouse support pretty much kills it for me. And the quality of the port does also matter to a degree. I am a huge Wing Commander nut (you bet I backed Star Citizen the second I could), and I also liked the SegaCD version of it... But while the port is probably pretty much the best First Person Space Shooter on the Platform, the issues it has (choppy framerate makes the latter missions nearly unplayabable... Read my review for more Details) I simply can't, in good conscience, include it in my overall Genesis Top 100. Doesn't Mean that anyone else shouldn't include it - the individual lists always come down to personal taste in one way or another - it's just that this is my personal opinion. I mean, that's why it's good that this final Top 100 will be determined as a median from all submissions.
I also don't have Doom in my list, simply because as far as FPS on Genesis are concerned, I kinda prefer Zero Tolerance somehow. Partly because the Doom port could've been better, partly because of ZTs two-player-mode.

The funny thing about an oxymoron is, even if you remove the ox, there'll always be a moron. The Question Remains: Y?
yeah but it runs with, pardon the pun, almost Zero FPS to which I'm not Tolerant at all, VS 30 or 60 or whatever Doom 32X achieves. I do like Zero Tolerance and its programming has more merit, but the other one is, well, DOOM.
I understand your argument, though
If we're looking at the games in a vacuum like that, then for sure DOOM will be on my list too. Probably fairly high up.
As for my progress, I've spent a few hours (yep, hours) mulling over the contents of my top 20. It's been tough to even get that far, and I agree with whats been said about anything past a certain point being basically interchangeable - the library is full of solid, even great, efforts that are going to be difficult to rank individually IMO.
Good fun though.
The lists are starting to pour in now. This is great. Keep in mind that this countdown will just be a bunch of opinions from guys on this forum and that it is not an official Sega-16 project so nothing will be chiseled in stone as far as what games are better than others. I'm sure if we do this again next summer opinions will change(I know mine would). This will be just a little snapshot of what a bunch of guys on the forums favorite games were for the Summer of 2015 so do the best you can, follow your heart and let the chips fall where they fall. It's just for fun. Special thanks to everyone for supporting this.
I don't play old stuff for nostalgia, I play old stuff because the games are better.

Great idea Nobi
My list is really coming together, my criteria is simple, just games that I played quite some time, yes some "possible gems" are staying out because I didnīt play enough to form a valid opinion, maybe after I do they will climb that ladder and make it to the top![]()
May the 16bit power be with us
A great idea! There's a still a lot of gems for the system that I haven't gotten the chance to play (Shadowrun, SoR 3, Gunstar Heroes, etc) but I'll still make my list regardless.
20 days left to the deadline!

Mine is pretty much done. I'm just doing some finishing touches on it.

PM sent.
I settled for a top 30, and I'm still not happy with it. Looking forward to seeing the results.
I've already sent mine and it's all games I enjoy (managed to make a full 100 with games I still like playing). I got lazy though, after the top 50 the rest aren't really ordered very well. Still, they're there and they're good, so I'm satisfied with it.
That's what I mean, after a certain number (in my case 30), it gets hard to place them in any sort of definitive order since they all feel as good as one another, i.e. very solid. That's the Sega Seal of Quality in action for you![]()
