** update on my situation **
I had just received a new used US model 1 genesis to try out the scart-to-component converter... I have a CSYNC cable form retrogamingcables to test it out... tried it on my AQUOS LCD tv... the screen twitches up and down slightly every now and then... and I still get those static lines going from bottom to the top of the screen... going to try it on my CRT tv in the basement and I'm going to buy new component cables... hopefully it doesn't happen on the TV downstairs but I'm starting to think it might be the converter if the same problem is happening on two different systems![]()
Well I'm guessing it doesn't support it well enough to properly output video without interference. I play my PC-Engine using S-Video on the LCD and the CRT TV and it outputs fine. I just tested the cables on a DVD player with the component cables and it displays video fine on the CRT and LCD.
My guess is that the converter could be the problem. I just tested out the scart-to-component with the US Model 1 system on my CRT TV in the basement and there is still interference/static running up from the bottom to the top of the screen. I have 3 cables that I tested... 2 cables from retrogamingcables.uk; one with CSYNC and the other without... and one from eBay that has a composite output also. All 3 cables gave me the same bad results. The one with the composite output had less interference than when using component.
I don't know... I think I'll just look into S-Video for these two systems that I have. I'll keep the cable with CSYNC but if anyone wants to buy these 2 RGB SCART cables and this converter message me. I'll give it away for cheap since they are of no use to me. Maybe the converter will work for you.![]()
Lack of time, motivation and other projects plus real life and 2 jobs has put this on the back burner for a while now. I had sync issues last I messed with it but didn't trouble shoot it much so it could be a number of things. When I get free time and remember about this project I'll try to get it done.
Oh and clear your inbox since you can't receive any PMs, the inbox size on this forum definitely needs to increase.
Sorry for the bump, but this stupid forum apparently won't let you make a new topic until you have 10 posts (they also took like 2 months to approve my user creation request, so since this post has a link in it, it's probably not going to be seen by anyone since it'll sit in the mod queue for another few months). Anyway, I was wondering if something like this would let you do the same thing, without producing too much lag.
That's just a passive adapter. All that's going to do is split out existing signals from the SCART cable (i.e. unless you have a SCART cable that carries S-video, you're not getting S-video out of it).
