Could always try component video. I have a bunch of those sync stripper chips LM1881 so I might incorporate that into the design simply because I know many cables will not have the C-Sync and will likely use Composite for sync, so to avoid possible headaches and purchasing new cables I'll throw it in. Remember this is like a short run of maybe 10 units max and most will be DIY unless I sell a few assembled.

Just thought I'd let you guys know how the project is coming along, I have the schematic pretty much all set except for the S-Video Mini Din and triple RCA socket have no libraries so I have to manually make them which is a little tedious since there isn't an exact Datasheet for the sockets. This will be a few weeks in the process till I get parts in to make measurements for the board (parts are ordered and on their way).

oh dear... i just received my new CSYNC RGB scart cable for my model 1 from retrogamingcables... hooked it up to my scart to component converter and still have the same issues... i don't have a picture of mine but i found one on shmups that looks like mine... though mine goes from the top and moves down to the bottom... its like noise thats horizontal to the screen and moves down... I can still see the picture but it looks horrible when it comes to a visual thats a solid colour.. and you can still see it not as bad but still apparent with anything else

I usually see it when i attach my component cables to the converter... maybe its the converter? maybes its my component cables? I already went thru 3 scart cables so I'm gonna try different component cables...

My rgb to component transcoder never worked perfectly with Sega and Neo Geo systems, but came close and it didn't work at all with other custom rgb mods. Then I got an rgb mod from a newer guy who made a csync cable for it and it worked perfectly. I've since been ordering sets of cables from retrogaming cables and they've all worked perfectly with my transcoder and framemeister. The picture even looks perfect on my TV when I use a component splitter box.

If you can't rule out the component cables or transcoder, maybe try another Genesis or SMS system.

Does you converter box work with other systems? On a side note for the project I'm working on, I might be able to add component video output (240p only though) and was wondering if this is a feature people might want or if not then I won't bother and stick to Composite and S-Video.

If an rgb to s-video box also does component output, that would be very nice, but I only need s-video.

I don't have any other systems that can use RGB scart it was only genesis... i hope its not the mod.. or the converter box... i haven't tested anything yet cause I'm too busy at work (even though i get to forum lurk all day here lol) ill try to test other component cables and see if there is anything else i can do before i rip my hair out

As for component output... I'm ok for that.. I'm getting a Turbografx and still contemplating what mods I should get on the system

What component box are you using? Might be the issue there unless it always worked before and what kind of TV is it connected to?

I would only need S-Video also. As I said, my CRT TV only has S-Video input at best.

so i tried the component cables with a dvd player i have... i don't see any of the screen noise when its connected compared to when I connect the genesis thru the converter to the tv. When the cables are connect to the converter and its on but the genesis isn't connected.. I don't see any noise. Only when its connected I see it... So maybe its the genesis itself? The component box I'm using is the CVS287 RGB scart to component... my tv is a Sony Trinitron KV-27FS100... maybe i should just sell the genesis for parts or something...

datbuta I have that same Trinitron and have enjoyed beautiful component video on it from a couple of genesis consoles using Helders old Component boards.
