Default Gunstar Heroes - Faulty Cartridge?

I bought a Gunstar Heroes cart, and on stage 3, just as the first fight with Smash Daisaku starts, the game freezes. I cleaned the contacts, but it still froze, so I open the cartridge and nothing seems out of wack. I then had the capacitors replaced with new ones, and that worked for a while, but now it's freezing again. It always freezes at that same part of the game, however on rare occasions, it gets past that part without issues. I even tried it on different systems and the same thing happens. This is a really bizarre issue with it only working sometimes. Is this a problem that can be fixed? Or should I just buy a different cartridge? What do you guys think?

If you know how to do it, it might be worth desoldering the ROM chip and checking it with an EPROM reader. Maybe a bit went bad and that is causing the issues. If possible, replacing it with an EPROM is a better idea. I had similar issues with the audio of a neogeo cart, and replacing one of the chips with an EPROM fixed it.

    Regards.

I was kinda hoping to avoid that... But I guess at this point I have no other choice. Thanks for the info, I'll give that a go when I have the chance.
