They called me Mr. Glass =)
Question is, are these teens gamers? Any non-gamer would be as bad in this game. Teens in 1994 would be as bad too. But if those teens are supposed to be modern gamers then it's all lost (last guy was OK tho).
Are 2D platformers such an 'alien' genre for kids/teens nowadays?

I'm sure if they asked me to play this on camera, I'd be just as terrible, I just know it. I just can't play Dave Perry games worth a damn. Fortunately, this "cool animation takes priority over everything" type of platformer seems to have gone the way of the dodo.
All anyone cares these days are shooters and action games! They should have them play Duke Nukem 3D Sega Genesis version
I forgot how difficult this game is, watching it I thought more kids would coast through it. The hit detection is something fierce. And how about that enemy placement? A knife-thrower behind a pillar so you can't really see him. But beautiful graphics for the time, looks so much like the movies. I've played through the end, but can see why these guys had trouble with Aladdin, it's not easy.
Well, some of us had no choice. In my case, I probably had 2/3 new games per year.

That's the biggest reason we took the punishment imho. In the 80s, a c64 was my gaming machine. Late 80s, you could get bundled games of like 10 per floppy for really cheap. Having so much choice had the same effect on me back then. I wasn't motivated, as much as I was only a few years back, to stick to one game and finish it.
Aladdin on the Mega Drive is considered hard? Other than perhaps the level called The Escape and Rug Ride the game can be breezed through. Although to be fair I played the hell out of it as a kid.
