I remember seeing that 2012 trailer, and thinking "oh this is gonna be an awesome single player experience!!!".
And then the game turned out to be like Call Of Duty, a muiltiplayer game that has tacked-on single player.

Well that's true in some ways, yeah.
What did you think of the work this guy did reproducing that trailer with the PC version of GTA 5 and its Editor ?
Also, the very first trailer from 2011, and another person's reproduction of it using the PC Editor.
GTA V is certainly the best installment in the series. So many great missions and lovely gameplay overall, actually played through the story for my second time just some weeks ago. That was on the Ps4. First time was on the Ps3, and while I completed the game to 100% (and finished the very last strangers and freaks mission), dem jaggies...
Looking back however, I'd say GTA IV still holds upp pretty nicely in most terms if played on a decent PC. On Xbox 360 or Ps3, forget about it...
Yeah GTA5 was awesome, I really hope we'll get another one in not too long. (seeing how 4 sucked i've gone too long without gta)
I wish they'd make a GTA set in the 70's, mix up those Burt Reynolds movies with some Dirty Harry and BAM! great game.
Here's some gameplay on triple monitors, using only a single GTX 980 graphics card (that's the GM204 GPU, not the Big Maxwell GM200 GPU used in GTX 980 Ti and Titan X).
I was just saying it had the same dev cycle. Designed as a multiplayer game, then a half-assed story mode is tacked on after.
I know what people say, "but they have 3 protagonists in it!! how can you call it half-assed?" that was just a useless gimmick. When you look at the actual single player gameplay, its seriously lacking. Barely any QTEs, interiors, side-missions, practically everything that made RDR so awesome.
And they have this big circular map, like most multiplayer-focused games do.
