Done. I also crapped on mobile games.
The Sonic CD is everything a retro remake should strive to be.
It took the original and made it not only playable, but pretty on new displays... while also keeping true to the originals look and feel.
It added a bunch of nice extras into the game that didn't really impact gameplay so much as give a nice bonus. The multi region soundtrack for instance was absolutely excellent.
If Sega put in that kind of effort on all their remakes I'd shovel over tons of money. The same goes for Nintendo as well.
I'm not going to give $10+ for a ROM slapped into a POS emulator.
But I did so happily for the Sonic CD remake because it was absolutely worth it to me.
Sega needs to realize that they can make mobile games, and no one will mind/care. Many of their older arcade style games are perfectly compatible with the quick and simple games that mobile is ideal for... But if they do so at the cost of making PC/Console games... they are eventually going to be just another company among the glut of them that rise and fall trying to pull money from the fickle mobile crowd.
Thanks for the heads up on the survey. I was surprised that they didn't even mention the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine or 3DO in the console section but did list the Amiga CD32.

Seems the survey is closed now.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.
Then we set about developing killer games.
