Did you feel any difference in frame rate?
I thought that I did during the other three default replays that I sat through six times, but it was hard to tell because it was a matter of just how much the framerate dropped during particular scenes.

Anyway, I started downloading the same rom for a game until I got one that worked and have a handful of successfully patched ones now.

Super Mario 64: a real treat without filtering. It's pretty much like an improved video signal. Switching back to the regular version, it looks like a bad recording of the unfiltered version.

Shadowman: the "low-res" mode has gone from unplayable to playable and nice looking. The unfiltered low-res version looks more or less on par with the filtered high res version. It really shouldn't have beeen released with the low res mode as-is.

Quake: it's pretty cool to confirm that the filter option in the game is for this particular filter. In the patched version, the filter option does nothing. Even devs bitd knew how much of a problem it is.

Doom 64: looks sharper and slightly clearer to me and the title screen looks smoother. Hard to tell because of how dark it is. When I have time, I'll record video and compare the clearest brightest sections from early in the game. Again, it feels so nice to have a version of the game that looks this good.

Shadowgate 64: already noticeably dithered in RGB, but the unfiltered version makes it much clearer and even more dithered. The framerate felt smoother, but it's hard to tell, since it's so low either way.

Are you sure about Doom? I thought it didn't use the filter since Angrylion's plugin doesn't show any difference at all with DAC filters on/off (except for the title screen). I tried a couple of different versions of the plugin and i get the same results. So maybe the plugins don't emulate the filter as it should for some reason?

I did notice a slight difference in the title screen between the versions though. But no difference in game.

Btw, crank up the brightness option at MAX in the options menu if you haven't already.

Also, you are right about Shadowman. The plugin also shows a HUGE difference in low res mode. I'm so thankful i played the game in High-res mode originally.

    Anyway, thanks for these.

Is there a working SM64 Gameshark code? I want to try that out.

I might have missed something, but is there a GameShark code for the NTSC release of Star Wars Shadows of the Empire to remove anti-aliasing? I just had another go at this game through the XRGB-Mini, and while the blur is only just passable in Composite, as soon as you move up to S-Video and RGB, the game looks absolutely f-ing disgusting, like it's out of focus.

RetroRGB put together a great page compiling all the relevant info so far:

I've also updated the OP in order to include the link above.

Looks like the only Shadows of the Empire code is for the PAL version, but I found out in the NTSC version, you can disable anti-aliasing and dithering via a debug mode cheat. Unfortunately, the game still looks like crap even with dithering and anti-aliasing disabled and the Nintendo 64 running in RGB (though with dithering off, I don't get that ugly "fuzz" on the screen where it looks like there's a bunch of snow as if a faulty RF box is being used).

Just to be clear, would using a GameShark code like this be the same as disabling anti-aliasing and dithering via the debug menu? If what I've seen is really what I would get by using such a code, I can't say I'm too impressed.

Wow. I wish I still had my GS.

This appears to be different Ace, this applies to additional AA of the entire image the N64 does if I'm understanding your question correctly. Dithering remains in the image.
