I thought that I did during the other three default replays that I sat through six times, but it was hard to tell because it was a matter of just how much the framerate dropped during particular scenes.
Anyway, I started downloading the same rom for a game until I got one that worked and have a handful of successfully patched ones now.
Super Mario 64: a real treat without filtering. It's pretty much like an improved video signal. Switching back to the regular version, it looks like a bad recording of the unfiltered version.
Shadowman: the "low-res" mode has gone from unplayable to playable and nice looking. The unfiltered low-res version looks more or less on par with the filtered high res version. It really shouldn't have beeen released with the low res mode as-is.
Quake: it's pretty cool to confirm that the filter option in the game is for this particular filter. In the patched version, the filter option does nothing. Even devs bitd knew how much of a problem it is.
Doom 64: looks sharper and slightly clearer to me and the title screen looks smoother. Hard to tell because of how dark it is. When I have time, I'll record video and compare the clearest brightest sections from early in the game. Again, it feels so nice to have a version of the game that looks this good.
Shadowgate 64: already noticeably dithered in RGB, but the unfiltered version makes it much clearer and even more dithered. The framerate felt smoother, but it's hard to tell, since it's so low either way.
