Long story short, Square Enix finally ended support of one of their longest running games for a console being Final Fantasy XI. They're still running the game online for PC users & have made no plans to end support along with them still doing version updates with a new one coming out this month.
I have to sit back & think about this. While I'm sad that support is over for the console versions, I have to be thankful that it lasted so damn long. There were people still playing online with their PS2s for over sixteen damn years. I've been playing FFXI on and off since it's release and it just amazes me it's been running this long. Generally tho I remember reading a "Dev Post" on SE's official forums about this and they stated that Sony was more or less willing to leave the PS2 Network up for as long as Square Enix wanted to use it which you have to think, the only game still on it was FFXI. So here's to both Sony and SE who supported a system for online use for almost two decades.
I'm just amazed they went beyond the amount of the support I expected.
P.S. If anyone's curious. I'm Snk on Sylph server.
