I have to agree with James here. However the argument of holding onto one's childhood is valid, but not in the sense people justify it as. It has been seen time and time again that it can be done right. We have Batman, TMNT(not the movie, but the numerous shows on TV), the Avengers, Star Trek, Star Wars(people have a mixed opinion on the new one but still generally positive). People just don't like to see something that they loved taken and shat upon. Eventually yes they forget about it and the shitty whatever that insulted the initial franchise is left to rot. People were probably open to the idea of a new Ghostbusters, problem is that it looked like shit, then they take it looking like shit and compare it to the original franchise as a benchmark. That is where this argument comes from, it isn't exactly about preserving the childhood but comparing the new material to the old and seeing how well it stands against it. This Ghostbusters reeks of bad movie all over it, if it stood on it's own it would have been a bad movie, however now it has to contend with the fact it's related to one of the most popular comedies of the 80s and that alone makes it worse. Overall I say that it is a case of NWP (Not worth pirating).
