I don't think it matters if they're unattractive or not, most guys in this thread wouldn't have the slightest chance anyway.

I think one of the most important points that AVGN raised was the title, why just call it Ghostbusters? We already had Ghostbusters that we all know (or should know) and a sequel, this film obviously isn't a continuation of the original franchise but a remake (or reboot, whatever hipster BS they call it these days). The fact is Ghostbusters doesn't require a remake, as it was perfectly good film as it was, so why bother? If they wan't to rehash it for a new generation, with a new cast then why not at least give us a new storyline and a new title? I couldn't care less if the cast are all women, men, gay, or even dogs FFS, the bottom line is this just doesn't look good.
There are a number of films that I tend to avoid,
1) anything in the "action" vein is usually a instant nope, "it's a movie, it's not meant to be realistic" line just annoys me. I'm sorry but I can't stand watching some crap about some dumbass doing OTT shit that defies the laws of physics and not getting wasted, it bores me.
2) "romcom" because they are all the same, tedious waste of time, overly sentimental gooey horseshit.
3) "superhero" I just don't dig comics, so sue me.
4) "remakes" Generally, if the original is still worth watching, why bother?
But there are exceptions to the rules, practically any movie with Arnie will pass in the "action" department, because it's not trying to be serious, it has Arnie in it. Heat falls into both "action" & "remake" the orginal LA Takedown was good, but Heat was way better, that shootout scene is epic & Pacino and De Niro are in the same film. "superhero" I did enjoy Gaurdians of the Galaxy & I'm looking forward to the sequel. Erm "romcom" nope, maybe Singles? is it a romcom? It has an awesome soundtrack. Star Wars VII was OK it was technically a "remake", but could have been alot better, but could have been alot worse (I,II,III).
But I have to agree that this new Ghostbusters film looks whack, if the orginal cast had done #3 and it looked this poor my opinion wouldn't have changed. Because opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
Owners of movie franchises are free to do whatever they want with them, and critics are free to not review films they don't want to review. Moving on...

^Pretty much what I said on the 2nd page(at least the latter half). Then someone had to bring race into it, which if it came down to it, quite frankly, the prejudiced have the same rights as everyone else(until, like anyone else, they decide to attempt a crime).
I've been thinking about this a bit more. Ghostbusters really shouldn't have anything to do with attractiveness at all. Like the old movies didn't have much of that element. But it's the fact of the new cast being all-female that raises the question of attractiveness. If any of those actresses are good-looking, they're still playing the roles of unattractive women apparently lol.
Now for example, if there was another movie about four women and there was at least one or two hot actresses, then that's entirely more interesting than a film about four frumpy women lol.
But essentially none of this should be an element because there was really no reason to remake it with all-female cast... I don't like this gender-switching remake trend. There was a new Twilight book that switched genders and it also worked much worse than the original...
I got into an argument with a SJW in real life a week ago regarding the casting of a white woman as Dr Strange's shaolin monk trainer. According to him, it's racist and indefensible. A white person can't possibly be the best candidate for a minority role. I brought up the casting of Nick Fury and Heimdall and that's perfectly ok with him. Liberal arts school, folks.

Luckily there is a plethora of advancement opportunities in the fields of convenience food management, and coffee arts; for the people mortgaging their future on a 4 year vacation.
There's also a fundamental absurdity about a gimmick (gender reversal remake) that basically can't be talked about... because it's considered wrong to mention it. Well, then it doesn't deserve to be the central gimmick, if people can't even talk about it lol.
This whole topic just makes me want to watch the 80's movies.![]()
It seems less like "who can we get for this ghost busters script" and more like
"what popular IP can we attach this Grrl Power propaganda too.
A generic comedy staring the current cast should be capable of doing well in
it's own right if not outright boot it's own franchise, but they don't believe their
own rhetoric and need to apropriate an already successful brand in order to
spread their gospel, in a "standing on the shoulders of giants" kind of way.
Imagine if some record label decided to reboot Led Zepplin, but decided that
the band would be made up of female American Idol contestants.
If you don't treat the new Led Zepplin with the same reverance as the original,
no matter how mediocre they may be, then you are a mysogonist shitlord
and deserve to die.
By the way. I tried thinking of examples of comedies based on attractive actresses. The one movie that kept coming to mind was Clueless, which seemed to work great on that premise:
So it's not like a comedy about a handful of women, is somehow impossible for those women to also be attractive lol.

Honestly why does it matter if the actresses are attractive or not?
I seriously don't get it
Oh, it matters.
Everyone needs to take a coffee arts elective at least once.Luckily there is a plethora of advancement opportunities in the fields of convenience food management, and coffee arts; for the people mortgaging their future on a 4 year vacation.
How will you have any perception of reality without??!
