Released in 1989 in Japan on PC Engine CD-ROM.
However, because the TurboGrafx CD expansion did not arrive in the U.S. until August 1990, we obviously did not actually have Monster Lair in stores until right then.

Anyone know which formats and if there will be changes to level designs and mechanics? Looks great.

The Turbo/PCE version of Monster Lair is the best. It may not have parallax or unlimited continues, but the soundtrack is so good that it creates a new level of game experience.

Wow, I'm really sold on the art style now, I used to think it looked too "Euro" comic book inspired to suit a Japanese classic like this, but it really makes it look super unique. I'll be getting this (and Monster Boy) for sure.

Not sure if I understood that section of the interview correctly as the audio was kind of low for me, but adding like an extra area not present in the original game would be great, too.

One of the best games of it's generation, and for that reason, I think the bar is set really high for this remake.

So far, it looks pretty good and it's obviously a pleasure to see a game like Dragons's Trap back in the headlines.
