North America only? Why? Not understanding that. Oh well, I'll have to import it then.

And it's PC only? Again, why? I mean, that's great for me, as I can redeem the game (digital console versions would be region locked), but why only for one platform? The mind boggles.

Never mind saw the other links.

I'm sure you are not including me in that comment; as you would know it by now that it is a fact I simply choose to not buy any games that are not in physical format; it being a choice and all.

No, of course not. I completely understand and respect your stance. I was referring to the entitled brats on the neogaf and Facebook demanding an OST, artboook, and physical copy and bashing Sega at the same time. Sega fans are fortunate to even get this and these morons only care about what they feel they are entitled to. That's like taking out a high maintenance female on an expensive date and all she does the whole time is demand that you cater to her wants and desires while hurling insults at you. It's damn near a miracle that Sega even considered this collector's set.

Lan Di, you know I like you.

I'm stoked myself Sega is making this game. Don't get me wrong. I just can't fathom it fiscally-sound on my part to buy download-only copies of games with the thousands of physical games I already own that I haven't yet played through, plus the hundreds of thousands of physical games that I don't own.

Now, if this beauty of a Sonic-on-a-Model-1-Genny statue were to be sold for something appealing like the Gwent cards for the Witcher 3 (i.e.- $30), I'd be all over this. But even then, like I have done with my Gwent cards, I wouldn't even open it.

But, yeah, asking for specific stuff like an OST or an artbook or other things like that on a collector's edition I can understand it can be a bit like "pushing it". But damn it man, if doesn't feel all kinds of wrong if they don't include a physical copy of the game on a collector's edition. Any "collector's" edition, for that matter.

Like I said a few pages back, I'm betting they'll do a Taxman pack and port the Sonic 1 and 2 remakes, and throw Mania with them all on one disc. At least I hope they do - would be a waste of an opportunity if they didn't.

Yeah, that'd be nice. But then again, as shitty as Sonic 4 was, I'm still waiting for that Sonic 4 compilation on a disc .

Anyways, I felt compelled to make this:

Collectors editions without physical copies of the game? It's like buying a cheeseburger without meat. For your chewing convenience, all of the meat flavor is now on the cheese. Same price, though.

Taking a guess: on console it'd mean ensuring the game can run from disc which is probably not as trivial as one would expect it to be (who knows how those things work), and on PC it'd most likely be tied to Steam anyway. Admittedly it's still odd though.

Also gotta love how the site went down after a few minutes. They had to give the direct links separately XD

I mean I'm really happy this game is coming out and that package looks really nice as I'd love to have it but not having a physical copy of the game with this package is kinda... pointless. I can't defend buying this if it's only a digital code.

Hopefully it's okay to say that I'd prefer a physical copy.

Likewise brotha. I just feel the fans need to support Sega whenever fan service is in play. That's the only way Sega will take the financial decision to produce products that the fans want. If stuff like this doesnt sell, SOA will dump items like this like a whoreish girlfriend in favor of others venues. It's either items like this or more Football Manger, Sonic Boom, and Total War bullshit for years to come. Constructive criticism and consumer awareness is always a great thing. I just don't care for the name calling and demanding from a certain demographic of gamers.

We have no Shenmue HD, Yakuza Remake, PSO2 online in NA, and countless other games largely ignored by SOA and SOJ. And BTW, SOA will blame SOJ and vise versa, and in the process, the Sega fan gets screwed.

    Think about it.

I kinda tempted to buy this on pure principle. I mean, I've never pre-ordered a game in my life before, but for a game that needed to come out after so long, I almost feel like it's worth it.

But I don't know what's the deal with the cartridge. Is it just a prop? Or is there some kind of bonus hidden on there that can be unlocked by sticking it into an actual SEGA Genesis? Or would the huge ring on the front keep you from doing that in the first place?

Mania just isn't enough for a hard copy. If they did it, how much space would it take up on the disc, 200MB?
