I'm hoping we get straight ports of the earlier S1+2 IOS remasters, but Chaotix and S3&K getting the same treatment down the line would be great as well.

just finished the first 2 zones and i love everything about it. i love that they went back to it, i don't mind seeing some of the old places because to me, that is the sonic "world". i will happily take a few zones in the green hills or chemical plant, i'll even take a brief visit over the marble zone haha i'm really enjoying it so far and don't mind the breaks in speed to explore, that option is there but you have to search to figure out the best path. i am super happy i bought it and can't wait to put in more hours. the intro was great and i havent felt that jazzed to start playing in a loooong time.

can you tell i'm a sonic fan?

That's what I'm hoping for. I'd be all for a Mania 2, but I'd love to see a "Sonic Classics Collection" for PS4, Xbone, Switch, & Steam that compiles the Retro Engine remakes of Sonic 1, 2, & CD, plus brand new remakes of Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Knuckles' Chaotix, finally putting all of the original 2D Sonic games into one collection in the absolute best form possible.

This, I want those ports too.

And sure you could. I have total faith in you.

    OK finished it. Final thoughts:

    PLUS:
-The music. Oh my god. Oh my Satan. Oh my Evolution. No matter what you believe in, this is the best part of the game bar none. In fact, it's what kept me playing. The Exxon Valdez stage music was the worst and even it was pretty good!
-The way Sonic himself looks. He's nice and bright like he should have been to begin with. Really catches the eye.
-The scaling rings when you get hit. I like the hardware scaling used here with the ASIC (pronounced ASS-ick) in the Sega CD. Err, yeah.
    -The music.
-The Acts change from 1 to 2. They look different and even have different music.
    -Green Hill Zone
-That TV Studio Zone or whatever
    -Metallic Madness Zone
-The Mode 7 in the bonus stages
-The 32X polygons in the bonus stages
-The sweet Super FX chip rotation of Yoshi's island in the title screen
-Many of the boss fights were inventive. Beat most on my first try except for 2 or 3 of them.
-Boss fights at the end of every act.
-The Chemical Plant Zone final boss.
    -The music.

    MINUS:
-Zones are all too long, except for the Green Hill Zone and Marble Madness Zone. Designers don't now about proper pacing.
    -The Chemical Plant zone.
-That one zone that starts out on an airplane. I didn't like either of those acts.
-The Oil zone. Did anyone actually enjoy this in Sonic 2 or 3 or Knuckles or wherever the hell it was?
-Tails. He has absolutely no right to exist. Thankfully he can be turned off. What an asshole. I would play a game where I could torture Tails and hear him scream.
-Too many zones from old games and too few original zones. Except Green Hill and Metallic Madness. Those are acceptable.
-That last zone. Ugly as sin. Worse-than-Genesis graphics and Genesis graphics are horrible with only 16 colors or some shit... nobody actually knows.
-That last zone. Horrible play mechanics with those electric balls or whatever they were. That was dumb and not fun. Nobody has ever smiled while playing it.
-The blue sphere bonus stages. I hate these. The only decent 16-bit Sonic bonus stages were in Sonic 1 and they were... OK.
-Physics and hit detection don't seem quite right. Things I could get away with in a REAL Sonic game I can't here.
-Kinda buggy. Music will restart and then shut off quickly when you beat an act, etc. Enemies on the ground will be in a different place when you jump high and come back down. Weird spikes floating mid-air etc etc etc.
-Some sounds that were stereo on the Genesis are in mono here, like when the ground collapses from underneath you.
-Gets really boring. It's Sonic so there's only so much you can take in a single sitting before your body and mind begins to decompose.
-Sad that THIS is the best Sonic game in a while. But it's Sonic, what more can you really do with him? Not much sadly. He really should be retired. Everyone agrees even if they lie and say they don't.

Bottom line: This would have been a great Genesis game if the zones were shorter, that last zone gone and hell, the airplane and the oil zones gone as well. And the Blue Sphere bonus stages. They are not needed. Shorten the zones and it should all fit on a 4 meg cart. 32 meg if you want the "SEGA" sound in the beginning. 40 meg if you just want to show Super Street Fighter 2 who's boss. 64 meg because fuck Pier Solar. 331 meg because fuck the Neo Geo.

Yes, Titanic Monarch is a fucking disaster of a level.

By far the worst final Sonic stage in a 2D game (except Sonic 4 because fuck Sonic 4 everything about Sonic 4 is shit)

The thing is, that practically it's not the final stage of mania, maybe that's why level is so bland?

I just think it's laziness tbh, or a case of put the best stuff at the beginning so more people see it.

I dunno, Wing Fortress is a great level with excellent music and a fun look being outdoors, Death Egg is a level full of clever traps. Even Metallic Madness (SCD not Mania) is a pretty good level but I find it kinda weak in comparison... Monarch? Yeah no. I was a bit let down if i'm honest.

    Still enjoyed the game though.

But if ending would be amazing, then there wouldn't be the feeling that something is left out.
It's obvious that Forces start where Mania "ends", so the real ending will be in Forces anyway.

Problem is for me, I will not buy Forces or even look at it. No way is that game gonna be anywhere near decent.

^How do you figure? Colors and Generations were outstanding games.

I'd go as far as alright, they were alright games. Generations helped hugely by the fact it had 2D levels.

Although now we have a 2D game so there is no need to have Classic Sonic & 2D levels but I loathe the 3D levels anyway because of how slippery the controls feel. I feel like i'm making a right mess of playing the game so it gives me a good slap to a section where I literally need to press nothing to punish me for my awful playing, which again is because the controls are so slippery and all over the place that I can't get any bearings to begin with.

It's far better than the mess that was 06 and Unleashed, but not by a whole lot. Sonic has never really worked 100% in 3D, even from Sonic 3D Blast

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Gogogadget again.

Agreed especially about the slippery controls. Been playing Generations recently and getting pissed off at the "FALL TO MY DOOM" controls and camera system everytime I mistime a jump etc.
