Mickey Mania is a ton of fun.
If you want a bad europlatformer, pick up Fantasia!

That's not what he's saying. Stop bitching. You're making a game out to be really bad when in reality it isn't. Get better at Unleashed or don't say anything. It is far from awful.
Let it go on Star Wars, dude. Never watched one, but does one movie upset you so much anyone that has a different opinion shouldn't be listened to? It's just a movie. No big deal.
Not Eurotrash. Travellers Tales actually developed a fun game. Do you hate Mickey Mouse games or something? I'm not huge on the cartoons (most boring character in cartoons), but the games are good.
Travellers did pretty well with Disney games I think. It's sad, unfortunately, that they are forced by WB into making Lego games and nothing else.
Because I'm not interested in Star Wars. How is it me saying "Never watched one" completely flew over your head? I'm not obsessed on hating something millions like and trying to get in fights about it like you are. Just drop the whole thing. You'll feel better. Same thing with the Mickey Mouse games.
So, Sonic Mania... started a second playthrough but stopped at the third zone, Studiopolis Act 1. Thinking if can play it in small bursts until maybe it will click with me more... at least I'm still listening to it's soundtrack (like now when Sega-16 forum browsing) and using it's rolling landscape PS4 theme. Haven't found the perfect statue spot yet either... Sonic Mania: The Indecision Awakens.
Flink is good, but it's one of these cases where the artwork and visuals truly outshines level design and mechanics. The game needed a password/save system, since it encourages you to re-visit previous stages to find hidden stuff/refill your spell bar and you have to do that in just one playthrough; being a long game and with a slow and methodical pacing, some kind of record system should've been there. Some spells are rather useless as well.
On-topic: these Sonic discussions never fail to impress me. Better than the game itself.

ya'll consider Mega Turrican a platformer? i mean there's a lot of it yeah, just also a lotta shooting
also quoting is still borked for me so here goes
classic sonic is good, unique platforming with more often than not fun/good level design and music.LOL you guys actually like Sonic? Can you tell me what you like about him and his games? Not compared to other games... just what makes his games great to you? I'd really be interested in reading that.
so the hype was speed, but that's your reward for learning a level - you can blaze through certain zones once you've learned enemy placement/the quickest way to the top route/etc (obviously less so in labyrinth, marble etc zones but speedrunners show you can make them work too).
you can casually play & explore a level - taking different routes than you did prior - and the ring system prevents you from feeling penalized for doing so: spikes aside, you need only keep 1 ring to keep going, couple that with checkpoints & you see it was not only forgiving, but again, encouraging to explore each corner.
the series also got better as it went, with 3/S&K being the peak for me. by then, you had shields allowing gameplay changes, knuckles opening up new areas/ways to play in older titles, etc.
honestly, as an SMS kid who had to champion Alex Kidd before, we could've had what you seem to sell sonic as here: a high-attitude mascot with Buby/Aero/etc level structure, but instead we got something really great.
hey go suck my dick from the back joe reddifer of game sacksAlso Tails is a shit character. Makes me glad I never had a little brother. Super annoying. He is the reason I didn't purchase Sonic 2 when it was released and rented it instead as all the mags showed Sonic running around with Tails. I did not welcome Tails. Green Mario is way better than Tails.
he's a harmless tag-along that i think you can play entirely without anyway...and offered likewise fun & harmless co-op play, unless your brother/friend was a huge dick and got good at flying you into pits, which was kinda hilarious
i too prefer Luigi, but still
yeah looking back it was kinda genius to let someone either legit help you out or at worst, dick around & not affect things too much - until it was time for chaos emeralds, goddammit tailsBarring Sonic 2's bonus stages, Tails could never really interfere with Sonic, making him the perfect player for LET YOUR LITTLE BROTHER/SISTER/RAMPANT AI WITH A MECHANICAL HUMANOID BODY PLAY, TOO moments, or just serious co-op fun with someone who was as good at the game as you were.
In a way I'm kind of glad to see Joe doesn't like Sonic that much. I'm so tired of Nintendo fanboys squawking that Sega "only had Sonic and a couple other things" going for them. Joe's not big on Sonic but he's still a Sega fan. Because there's plenty of other stuff.
You just can't handle my jawusumness responces.
