Weird thought: Does this now mean Sega retroactively owns an SNES game, and some PS1 games?

Would not be the first time. Don't forget some of their arcade games were ported to the NES and PCE back then. Also don't forget that Columns is on the SNES too. Also what about Puyo Puyo (which they didn't own back then but now do), which was just about everywhere?

Not really very strange once you start thinking about it. Stranger is the fact there are two Pokémon games on Sega systems (true, they're on the Pico, but still...).

I'm betting it's a read the manual kind of game, or at least a Gamefaqs page explaining some of it first.
It's only difficult, until you figure out how to take over the bases. You pretty much start with your Mech at your main base. The 1st thing you want to create are foot soldiers. The foot soldier will walk out the front door of your base, where you can pick him up with your mech. You then have the option to choose what the soldier will do once you set him down. The arrow pointing to an entrance is the command for a foot soldier to walk into a base for the taking. Once 4 soldiers (or is it 5?) have entered a small base, it will start earning credits for your team. The other team can send soldiers to take over your small bases, but you can use defenses like tanks to kill any foot soldiers that try to enter into their area. The real fun begins when you try to finally destroy the opponents main base. They can load up the surrounding area of the base with ground to air attack units that will shoot your mech out of the sky, should you try to drop a unit too close to their base, or they can build up a huge force of tanks and ground soldiers that will attack your mech when you decide to land on the ground to attack the base yourself.
A Black Falcon: no, computer games and video games are NOT the same thing. Video games are on consoles, computer games are on PC. The two kinds of games are different, and have significantly different design styles, distribution methods, and game genre selections. Computer gaming and console (video) gaming are NOT the same thing."

Anyone looking to play Herzog Zwei - do yourself a favor and read the manual.

Since I saw it mentioned to the contrary, I must say, Thunder Fore VI is maligned quite unfairly. I think it is a fantastic fun game and a great revisiting of the Thunder Force series.

This is great news. It's fitting that Sega bought it all, but I hope they don't just focus on the MD library and forget the rest. I'd like to think they may make some new installments, but how well would a new TF or Herzog or Steeldom would sell? Can I hope for a re-release of Hyper Duel with Saturn mode?

No, it's unbiased analysis. The only fanboyism is people who claim that Hyperstone Heist and Bloodlines are actually as good as their SNES counterparts.

You know, while honestly I find it unlikely they'll care about Herzog, they do want to get bigger focus on PC and RTS games are pretty much PC territory. That would be actually a very good excuse to bring back that series.

Though kind of amusing in that the Herzog games were designed without a mouse in mind. More specifically, that you're limited by the mech's physical constraints was used as a way to justify the slowness introduced by using buttons. No idea how AirMech handles this or if it's just handwaved there.

The MSX and Sharp X1 didn't utilize a mouse?

I don't know. But whenever I emulate an MSX game, I play with a controller and haven't ran into any issues with that.

Nope as far as I know (early MSXs certainly didn't have mouses), and moreover games were designed with joysticks in mind (in many cases not supporting the keyboard at all and using it only to change settings with the function keys). If anything, PCs were the exception to the rule here (X68000 had a mouse, but games still relied mostly on the joystick).

Would be nice to see them on a device as an to answer to the Nintendo NES Classic.

I don't think Sega has a hardware division anymore, so at best/worst it'd be added to another AtGames revision.
